    Samuel Beebe Twin to Thomas
    He came to New England in 1649 with his brother John to establish a home for the rest of the family to come to. They lived briefly in Glouchester, MA, but then removed to New London, Ct. where land was granted him Dec. 2, 1651 as well as several times afterwards.

    The family of Samuel became large land owners and intermarried with well-to-do-families, being a prosperous farmer himself. He was also a soldier for many years. On June 4, 1765 he was confirmed as sergeant of the Trainband, at New London, Ct. and again on 1678 with his brother Thomas Beebe. He participated in various campaigns against the Indians.

    The name is found among the Minute Men of '76 and in the armies of the Revolution, as officers and enlisted men. In 1708 he testified that he and his brother made the fence to Mr. Winthrop's Ox pasture "sixty years since".

    On Sept. 15, 1691 he was one of the jury in New London, Ct. Samuel lived in New London until sometime after 1704, when he moved to Plum Island, NY, where he died.

    Early in 1712 administration was granted on his estate to his widow Mary and his son Samuel of Southold, Long Island.

    His will was dated Mar.14, 1712 and was probated April 6 1712, in which all his children are listed except Anne who died beforehand.

    His wife Mary moved to Colchester, Ct. after his death and probably died there. A deed recorded in New London, dated May 8, 1716 from Mary Beebe, then a resident of Colchester, and relict (widow) of Samuel Beebe, late of New London, deceased, and conveyed to Samuel Fox of New London, for a valuable sum of money, land in New London, "originally granted to William Keeney".

    A deed recorded in New London, May 8, 1716, was from Mary Beebe, "now resident of Colchester, and relict of Samuel Beebe, late of New London, deceased."...
    Administration on his estate was granted Apr 16, 1712, to his widow, Mary and his son, Samuel, of Southold, Long Island.

    In Joshua Hempstead's Diary, May 9, 1725, he wrote: "Old Goodee Beebee died," and on May 10: "I was at the funeral of old Ms. Beebe, aged about 86 or 7. Her husband was 1 of ye first Settlers of ye Towne."
