Eight children living: Sally Ann Maddox, Isaiah Jones, Irdell Jones, Rachel Baker, Anna Eliza Adams, Phebe Jane Razor, Jessie Jones and Samuel Jones; and 2 grandchildren, the children of deceased son Isaac Jones; 3 grandchildren, the children of deceased son John Jones; one grandchild, the child of deceased daughter Mary Gividen. Brother Abraham Jones and son-in-law Francis Maddox named as executors.

"I, Samuel Jones of Henry County, Kentucky, make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows.
"I have eight children living (now) Sallie Ann Maddox - Isaiah Jones - Iredell Jones - Rachele Baker - Ann Eliza Adams - Phebe Jane Razor - Jessie Jones and Samuel Jones - and two grand children, the children of my deceased son Isaac. Three grand children, the children of my deceased son John, and one grand child the child of my deceased daughter Mary Gividen.
"First, it is my will and desire that so much of my personal property, preferring that which is perishable, as may be necessary, be immediately sold after my decease, and the proceeds thereof applied to the payment of all my just debts - funeral expenses and costs of administration.
"Second, it is my will and desire that all my property real personal and mixed be sold by my executors herein after named be divided as follows, one eleventh each of my eight children hereinbefore named, one eleventh to my grandchildren, the children of my son Isaac , one eleventh to my grandchildren, the children of my son John, and one eleventh to my grand child, the child of my daughter Mary Gividen.
"Third, I hold the note of my son in law Jessie Adams, husband of my daughter Anna Eliza for two hundred dollars with several years interest - this note with its interest up to this time must be charged as an advancement against my said daughter Ann Eliza, and she must account for this ---, before receiving her share under the second clause.
"Fourth, I have paid for my daughter Rachel Baker two hundred and sixty dollars to Jesse Louden for a piece of land deeded to her, this amount with interest for one year must be charged against her as an advancement before she can receive her share under the second clause.
"Fifth, my sons Isaah Jones and Iredell Jones have sold and conveyed with my consent all the respective right title interest in the farm upon which I now live to my son Samuel Jones - that is, their prospective interests as my heirs or devisees - and of the proceeds of said farm they are entitled to no interest - in other words my Samuel is to have three elevenths of the proceeds arising from the sale of the said farm. And if any more than my personal property is required to pay my funeral expenses costs of administration, and my just debts, my home farm is to be reserved and all my other property first exhausted for that purpose.
"Sixth, as my son Jessie is now living with me I desire to give him in addition to the above, the bed and bedstead upon which I sleep and upon which my beloved wife died.
"Seventh, my watch I intend to dispose of to one of my children before my death, and the same is not to be charged as an advancement.
"Eighth, I appoint my brother Abraham Jones and my son in law Francis Maddox the executors of this will and empower them with the right to sell and convey at private or public sale upon such terms as they may think best all my estate real and personal - I further request that the county court will not require them or either of them to give security as executors.
"In testimony whereof I have set my hand this 31st of March 1880. (Signed - Samuel Jones)
"Subscribed and acknowledged by Samuel Jones in our presence and we attest the same in his presence and the presence of each other this March 31st 1880. (Signed Isaac W. Kelly and J. Barbour)
"I, Samuel Jones, do make this Codicil to my will made March 31st 1880.
"I, having sold all my land make this change - I have sold to Samuel Jones, my home farm containing about 161 acres at $2000.00. Three shares his own and the two bought of Isaah and Iredell he owns, the other 8/11 of the price he is to pay in 6 annual payments beginning March 1st, 1882. Samuel is to have no part of these payments, nor is Isaah or Iredell.
"I have sold to Jessee 92 acres of the Dan Jones place and eight acres of the Alex Hardin place at $1200.00 to be paid for in 6 annual payments beginning March 1st, 1882. He had paid $245, the proceeds of this is to be equally divided among my eleven (note: eleven crossed out) children & grand children as provided in the 2nd clause of my will.
"I have sold to Isaah about 63 acres, the Weldy farm at $1000.00 to be paid for in 5 annual payments beginning March 1st, 1883, the proceeds are to be divided as mentioned in the second clause of my will.
"Samuel, Jessee & Isaah hold my bonds for title. If I should die before all the payments are made I desire my executors to convey the lands to the several parties upon their making the unpaid payments in a reasonable time This 9th day of January 1883. (Signed Samuel Jones).
