  1. 4.  John Oglesby, (son?) was born between 1770 and 1780 in of, Goochland, Virginia (son of Jacob^ Oglesby, Y-DNA-step 2 match and Ann Bailey); died before 1830 in of, Christian Co, Kentucky.

    Notes:

He is given as father of Ann Oglesby Knight on her death record. It shows her born 1798. Jane Oglesby is shown in 1850 Christian County KY with a family of Johnsons. She was born 1780 VA. It's more likely he is a son of Jacob rather than Jesse or Constant, especially with the Virginia connection.

John married Mrs. Jane (..) Oglesby about 1797. Jane was born in 1780 in Virginia; died after 1850 in of, Christian Co, Kentucky. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

This Johnson family does not appear to be connected to the Johnson family from North Carolina who are also in this community.

They are part of a group of 3 households, along with the following two:
    808 Johnson William A 55 1795 Virginia
    808 Johnson Mary A 24 1826 Illinois
    808 Johnson Nancy C 23 1827 Kentucky
    808 Johnson Elizabeth J 21 1829 Kentucky
    808 Johnson William D 17 1833 Kentucky

    809 Johnson James D 42 1808 Illinois
    809 Johnson Mary 46 1804 Tennessee
    809 Johnson William A 9 1841 Kentucky
    809 Johnson Ann C 7 1843 Kentucky
    809 Johnson David A 4 1846 Kentucky

William, 1795, is son of Dilmus Johnson Jr 1761-1839; who is son of Dilmus Johnson Sr (abt 1730 VA-1812 Fluvanna Co, VA.). Dilmus, Sr., had a will dated 20 Dec 1810 and a witness was Joel Melton. Melton family was closely connected to Oglesby family.
Dilmus Sr.'s son William Johnson (1756-1825 Fluvanna co) married Rebecca Melton Appleberry (1784) whose parents were William Appleberry (1724-1776) and Mildred Henson (1760-1828).
His son Dilmus Jr. married Nancy Ann Ashley, born in Goochland County, Virginia, as were the Oglesbys; died in Christian Co. KY. Her parents are not know.
It would take a two or three generations of research to determine the actual connection.
This much of the family info, as well as a transcription of Dilmus Sr. will is found at Ancestry.com, "George Family Tree," tree owner CGeorge91. Also, the Johnsons were included in a D.A.R. plaque honoring the Rev War soldiers buried in Christian county. Private Dalmath Johnson (or Dilmus), Private Samuel Johnson.

    Research Notes:
In 2009 when John had his YDNA test the results came back as match in 37 and 67 tests. No common denominator was found. On Feb 27, 2013, a tester in the Oglesby group, Richard Arthur (Oglesby) Wilson, was a match to him in the 37, with a step 2 match. As it turned out, the Sheltons married into the Oglesby line with the marriage of Gustavas Adolphus Oglesby, so assuming that must be the reason the Shelton line showed a match.
Richard Arthur descends from Jesse Oglesby; and Gustavas descends from Contant, Sr., Jesse and Contant being brothers, Jacob Oglesby being their father, making Jesse the great-uncle of Gustavas.

Jacob^ married Ann Bailey on 14 Feb 1760 in St. James Northam, Goochland Co, Virginia. Ann was born about 1740 in of, Goochland or Albemarle Co, Virginia; died before 1780 in of, Albemarle Co, Virginia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
