    Research Notes:
Francis Brown is ancestor of Jerome Brown who tested in Family Finder as 5th Remote cousin to my mother and maps on predominantly Chrom 20 and a bit on Chrom 7. The only name shown as a match was Brown in Nodaway Co, MO. Another surname mentioned but not a match was Elliott.
Thomas William Brown m Rosa Belle Elliott. He was son of Thomas Henry Brown & Emily Rebecca Schrievner, and grandson of Francis Brown born TN & Elizabeth Browning. No record of Francis' father.
However, Francis Brown is living in 1840 Jackson Co, MO and is listed on the same census page as William Bowers and William Linville.
I had in my database Andrew Brown b 1792 whose son Isaiah Brown m Malinda Lovelady; son Wilson Brown m Eleanor Linville, and dau Sarah C. Brown m Henry C. Linville.
Malinda Lovelady is dau of Moses Jones Lovelady and gdau of John Henry Lovelady. John Henry's dau Sarah Rebecca m Peter Shrum. Shrums in line of Tommy Sisco who matched very strongly to my mother. Tommy shows on Chrom 20, but not perfectly aligned with Jerome Brown.
Eleanor Linville Brown is dau of Thomas Linville Jr & Charity Watkins. and niece of Catherine Linville, wife of William Bowers who Nancy & James Lovelady had land dealings with. Also, living in community in Jackson Co MO with Francis Brown.
Henry C. Linville is bro to Thomas Linville Jr. as well as Catherine Linville Bowers.
I believe Francis is very likely Andrew's Brown's brother or at least very closely related.

Malinda Lovelady is a descendant of Simeon. She is too distant from James Lovelady to be showing up if this match is thru my James Lovelady. It must be thru Nancy.

Also, the name Elliott is of interest. I had Rosa Belle Elliott who married Thomas William Brown in my file. She was granddau of Jemima Jane Lovelady, sister to James Lovelady. But Elliott wasn't the matching name.

Another match to Mother is Estell Harris. I found her connection, as well. She also matches on Chrom 20, overlaps with Jerome Brown a little bit, and is present at least on chrom 7 though not overlapping with Sisco. Her connection is thru Elizabeth Lovelady who married John Benjamin Liverman. Elizabeth dau of Wm Thos Lovelady & Hester Jones; Wm Thomas gson of Simeon! Again, I'm back to Simeon.

    --
I've come across a match to my mother in FamilyTreeDNA of a Jerome Brown. He did not publish his tree; but only the name Brown in Nodaway, MO shows as a matching name. He's a 5th Remote, but it's on Chrom 20 along with some others. Other names mentioned are Elliott and Schrievner. I already had Thomas William Brown & Rosa Belle Elliott because Rosa was in the line of Simeon Lovelady. I found Thos Wm's father, Thomas Henry Brown - mother Emily Schrivner (so right line); and Thomas Henry son of Francis Brown & Elizabeth Browning. Francis Brown is on the same 1840 Jackson Co MO census page as William Bowers (m Catherine Linville) and William Linville who was Catherine's nephew and married to Leah Bowers.
I have been unable to find Francis' parents, but because of family connections - and a little DNA clue - I think he could be the brother of Andrew Brown who had 3 children who married Linvilles and Lovelady: Isaiah Brown m Malinda Lovelady; Wilson Brown m Eleanor Linville; and Sarah C. Brown m Henry C. Linville. 1840 Nodaway Census has Browns, Linvilles, Elliotts in their own community. Eleanor is niece of Catherine Linville Bowers.
Do you have any info on the Browns that might tie this up? I suspect that this line of Browns is pointing to my Nancy somehow because of some other matches who share the same chromosome and I think if this was pointing to James, it wouldn't be showing up since the Simeon Lovelady line is a bit more distant. She still might not be a Linville, but I do think somehow she might be from Simeon Lovelady's line.

    posted to Linville Facebook pg:
Do any of you have any info on the Browns who married into the Linville and Lovelady line? Specifically, I am looking at the possibility that a Francis Brown, who was living in Nodaway MO in 1840 and listed on the same census page with William Bowers (husband of Catherine Linville) and William Linville, her nephew, might be a brother of Andrew Brown who had three children who married Linvilles and a Lovelady.
A descendant of this Francis Brown matched ? remotely but matched ? to my mother?s Family Finder DNA (Gloria Jones Moyer); and the chromosome browser shows him in common with some others; and various vague clues are making me think that these matches are leading my 3g grandmother Nancy (LNU) Lovelady - who I THINK she is a Linville, possibly a sister to Catherine Linville Bowers. She might not be, but I do believe she?s at least from a very closely related family. (FYI, Francis? grandson Thomas William Brown m Rosa Belle Elliott, Elliotts being another collateral family)
My knowledge of DNA is elementary at best; so I?m over my head here. My website containing all I?ve found on the Browns ? as well as Linvilles and Loveladys (and just about everybody else) is http://sherrysharp.com/genealogy
Thanks for any help you might can offer.

    Sherry,

My Name is Joe Brown, I am a decendant of George Brown through his son Benjamin Brown. I will list below what I know about George Brown.

George Brown, buried in Stewart Cemetery near Cookeville, Tn.

    He had 5 sons:

Benjamin Brown b. April 21, 1787 d, Sept. 21, 1849, Buried in Stewart Cemetery close to his father, Benjamin married Susannah Richards, she was born in Pennsylvania on July 7, 1784 she died in Tennessee on Jan. 31, 1858 buried Stewarts Cemetery, they had 7 children.

    John Brown b. 1790 d.1858, married Sally Carr b.1792 d. Aug.25, 1868, they had 2 daughters who married 2 brothers.

    Andrew Brown b. 1792 d.1874

George Brown died about 1850 in Illinois

    Daniel Brown

I have a copy of a letter my G Grandfather wrote in 1925 to back up this information.

We think we have found Daniel, just need to find something to tie Daniel and George together.

If you have any info on thes other sons I would appreciate it.

    Joe Brown

George married (Mrs. George) Brown about 1786. (Mrs. was born on 5 Mar 1783 in Shenandoah, Virginia; died in 1850 in Blount Co, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  (Mrs. George) Brown was born on 5 Mar 1783 in Shenandoah, Virginia; died in 1850 in Blount Co, Tennessee.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Research Notes: 23 Sep 2013; Elizabeth Click

    Notes:

    Research Notes:
Several sites show him to be married to Elizabeth Click
born 5 Mar 1783 Shenandoah Virginia; died 1850 Blount Co, VA.
But tracking this through, it seems to be an error and that Elizabeth was married to a Joseph Brown, apparently on 10 Apr 1803 in Washington Co, TN.

    Here's the study on her:
    There's a site on Ancestry
    http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/11353626/person/999551801
shows Click's parents, headstone of George and son Benjamin (not her headstone) but has a nice history article on her family (Gluck/Click -they were German) but the article does not say who she married.
Shows kids Andrew, Daniel, George, John, Benjamin, Daniel
Shows 2nd marriage to Mary Hunter (no parents, no b.d., d.d.) on 28 Mar 1792 Greene Co TN. Has marriage record, but just married Mary Hunter m George Brown. So, this George?
Shows kids Obedience 1782 (that's 10 yrs before marriage, so something is wrong on that) and Daniel 1793-1848
(seems several sites have same thing - lots of copying apparently - none show a documentation that I found)

I also found a site on Ancestry
    http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/32809897/person/18334196837
that has Elizabeth Click (also not documented)
married to Joseph Brown (1782 VA -1860 Blount Co TN).
    Shows his parents as:
Benjamin Brown 1750 VA-1828 Johnson Co TN
    Susannah Cooper 1745-1773

don't know how or if Joseph is related to George.

    [family tree 000.FTW]

The first tax list in Washington Co Tennessee we find him on is 1787, however in 1785 Greene County, Tennessee I find what appears to be a son of Lewis, named William Click. This places for the first time our Click family in Tennessee within the next year from leaving Shenandoah Co. Virginia

NOTE: WURTTEMBERG, DURLACH, GERMANY WHICH IS SOUTH DOWN THE RHINE RIVER FROM DANNSTADT,(ALSO IN THE PALATINATE SECTION), LUDWIGSHAFEN, GERMANY A SHORT DISTANCE. THEY MOST LIKELY CAUGHT A BOAT HEADED UP THE RHINE FROM WURTTEMBERG. THE TRIP THEY WOULD HAVE HAD TO MAKE WAS UP THE RHINE TO ROTTERDAM IN SMALL BOATS WHICH WAS AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT JOURNEY USUALLY TAKING 6 TO 8 WEEKS IN VERY CRAMPED AND UNSANITARY CONDITIONS. FOOD AND WATER SHORTAGES WERE VERY COMMON. THEN BOARDING THE SHIP "LYDIA" IN ROTTERDAM, WITH THE LAST PORT OF CALL BEING COWES, ENGLAND, A PORT ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE ISLE OF WIGHT THEN TO PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.

ACCORDING TO BIRTH DATE PROVIDED BY GARY D. CLICK OF 23 MAR 1740/41, THIS WOULD HAVE MADE LEWIS ABOUT 8 OR 9 YEARS OLD WHEN HE CAME TO THE UNITED STATES.

REF: MANUSCRIPT OF MAE TWITCHELL - Letter dated 14 June 1972 from Mrs. Paris Hall, Route 2, Newport, Tennessee 37821, states a "family legend":
"Lewis Click came from Germany with two brothers, names unknown. Lewis Click was 19 at that time and fought in the Revolutionary War in 1776 with his two brothers, Lewis Click making and molding bullets". NOTE BY CAROLYN WHITAKER - After examining the records and the brief of Gary D. Click and David Carnahan in 1991, the above family legend would seem to warrant some note. It is possible the age was possibly "9" and not "19" as stated in the legend, which would be an accurate age for his arrival in the United States with his parents.

The next issue involved in the manuscript makes this note: taken from the book "Across the Years" by Joseph Paul Glick - "The personal property tax records of Shenandoah County, Virginia for the years 1782 - 1784 give the name of one LEWIS GLICK with personal property including horses and cattle. No land, however, was listed in his name. It would appear that he was a young man operating a farm with considerable property, but his name does not appear AFTER 1784. (IN THE ORPHAN COURT RECORDS OF LANCASTER CO. PA - he lists Lewis Click's sister moving to Virginia which would establish family already living in Virginia at this time)

The 1787 Tax List of Washington County, now in the private collection of Mr. Paul M. Fink of Jonesboro, Tennessee, shows Lewis Click as paying tax on 200 acres of land and paying two white poll taxes. He continued paying a poll tax every year until 1793, after which he paid tax only on the 200 acres; he did not pay a poll tax after 1793. No one over the age of 50 years was required to pay a poll tax; therefore, we can speculate that Lewis Click became about 50 years of age in 1793, and thus we can conclude he was probably born circa 1743. (This would make a close match with the birth date of our Lewis according to records Gary D. Click found in Germany)
