Among the early settlers was a number of men whom the Spirit of '76 had impelled to fight in the battles for American Independence. As nearly as possible this is a correct list:
Sisson Cole, John Densmore, Nathan Dow, Willard Eddy, Lemuel Fitol, Martin Griffin, Nathan Harrington, G.R.T. Howes, Alpheus Loomis, Thaddeus Loomis, Robert martin and his sons Isaac, John, Johseph, Nathan, Robert, Samuel, and Stephen, Jonathan Morgan.

Sisson married Elizabeth Hunter about 1744 in Providence Co, Rhode Island. Elizabeth was born on 18 Jan 1746 in Swansea, Bristol Co, Massachusetts; died on 12 Nov 1842 in RIchfield, Otsego Co, New York. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

2. Esseck Cole was born on 12 Apr 1780 in Foster, Providence, Co, Rhode Island; died in Sep 1872.
3. Thomas Paine Cole was born on 14 Mar 1782 in Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island; died on 18 May 1802 in Otsego Co, New York; was buried in Richfield Hill Methodist Episcopal Cem, Otsego Co, New York.
