    Hello,

I was just looking at your family group sheet for Jean Baptiste Moffett and Francoise Duprez, and thought you should know something. My sister and I have been researching her husband's ancestry, which goes back to Henry (Henrich) Moffett, who died ca. 1778 in Fauquier County, Virginia. (Thus, a supposed son of Jean Baptiste Moffett.)

We obtained all this information about the connection to Jean Baptiste and Francoise (Duprez) Moffett from the Clan Moffat Society several years ago. We recently hired a professional genealogist (with a Ph.D.) to actually search the French Huguenot records of London for verification of this information. (You notice than many precise dates of baptism, etc. are provided, and purportedly come from the church registers of the French Huguenot Church of Threadneedle Street in London.) The records of the French Church of Threadneedle Street, however, contain absolutely NO mention of this family. The index for the records was checked, and then the researcher checked the specific years, since precise dates were given. No mention of a Meuffette/Muffett/Muphet/Moffett family was made. The researcher then checked the other Huguenot church records available, but still no luck. As it turns out, this entire family was fabricated by someone (possibly a research firm in Utah).

If you check the records of the Clan Moffat Society online, you will see that they have removed Jean Baptiste Moffett from their records entirely, since he never existed.

    Sincerely,

    Timothy C. Parrott
