The 1850 census shows widowed Martha Ann McBride and her children living with her father-in-law, Thomas Crawford McBride, in Yamhill County. That same year, she married John Bird Bounds. He brought 10 children to the marriage and Martha Ann brought six. They settled on his farm at Buena Vista.
