DEATH CLAIMS MARION ROSE SATURDAY EVENING
    -------------------------------------------
RETIRED LOCAL FURNITURE MERCHANT DIES SUDDENLY OF HEART FAILURE IN STORE

Marion Rose, age 71, for many years a leading merchant in this city, died of heart failure Saturday evening about 7:30, in the furniture store on West Main St. that he managed for several years.
Mr. Rose had been in failing health for the past two years, but last night while sitting in a chair talking to his daughter , Mrs. Thaddeus Haight , his son, Edward, noting his father's healthy appearance, inquired of his condition and was informed that his father was feeling fine. In less than five minutes he was stricken with a heart attack and slumped in his chair, death coming instantly.
He was born in Roscoe, a son of the late Daniel and Elsinda Rose and spent his entire life a resident of this county.
In early life he and his brother, the late W E Rose, were engaged in the furniture manufacturing business in Roscoe, at the same time operating a furniture store in this city.
After the furniture manufacturing business was discontinued about 35 years ago, Marion Rose entered the building contracting business, the store in this city being under the management of his brother.
About 15 years ago, Mr. Rose returned to the furniture business at the store in this city. He retired from that business about four years ago, but had always been a daily visitor to the store.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Thaddeus Haight, of this city and Miss Effie Rose of the home; two sons, Edward and Russell, both of this city; one brother, Anthony Rose of Los Angeles Calif., and four grandchildren.
His wife preceded him to the grave about 14 years ago.
Private funeral services will be held from the late home Monday at 2 p.m., Rev. J M Baxter in charge. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery.
