Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Landon Carter Tadlock was born on 1 Apr 1804 in Greene Co, Tennessee (son of Lewis^ Tadlock and Charlotte^ Padfield); died on 20 Mar 1876 in Washington Co, Tennessee; was buried in Milburnton UMC Cem, Greene Co, Tennessee.

    Notes:

    Landon was a farmer and spent most of his life in the area of of Washington County where his father lived. Part of his farm bordered on Green County and so he bought and sold property in both Counties.
    In 1870 Landon and Sarah were living with son Samuel Kyle Tadlock and his family., Landon was listed as an invalid.
    ~~~
    Landon Carter Tadlock's grandfather., Thomas., his father Lewis and his Uncles' Joshua, John and Thomas., all signed the document to form the state of Franklin., along with Col. John Sevier, Col. Landon Carter and later to be President Andrew Jackson. After a bitter division over land grants and other problems, the state was broken up in 1789. North Carolina regained control and ceded the land to the new government, which became the State of Tennessee in 1796.
    From this documentation I believe that Lewis., Landon's father named him after Col. Landon Carter.
