		Jefferson County Courthouse 1854 The first Courthouse here was completed in 1854. Built by John A. Beaumont, it was a two story square structure surrounded by a six-foot picket fence. Baptist and Methodist congregations conducted Sunday services in the building and during the Civil War it was leased to D. T. 	I found no Beaumonts in Jefferson County in 1870. Must be some records lost in a hurricane or fire or something. Some of them should have shown up somewhere. Anyway, last record is 1860. Some researcher had a death date 1 Dec 1863 for him, with no documentation. If he died in 1863, they were mostly likely in Grigsby Bluff as I don't believe any of the family who had moved into Beaumont proper that early.
