Section261-page 199. Captain Ball owned valuable iron works and furnished supplies that wereof great service during the Revolution. (see-Hayden's VirginiaGenealogies and Traditions, also Heitmans U.S. Military Record). CaptainBall also gave much material and financial assistance toward the expenseof the war and rendered great service toward establishing Americanindependence. He was a second cousin of General Washington and served onhis staff. His father, William Ball, being a first cousin ofWashington's mother, Mary Ball.
