Thomas William Campbell served in Co. F, 32nd Ala. Infantry, CSA He enlisted March 29, 1862 from Choctaw County, AL at Mobile, signed up by Capt. Smith for the duration of the war. He was a prisoner of war at Military prison, Louisville, KY Aug. 16, l864 after being captured Aug. 4 near Atlanta. He was at Camp Chase, Ohio, and paroled there; was transferred to Point Lookout, MD March 18, 1865, and was finally parolled at Meridian, MS. He carried a minie ball in his leg, which was never removed.
His brother John Boyd Campbell was killed in the battle of Dalton, GA in 1864.
