- Graveside services for Ernest Lee Williamson, 88, of Lake Jackson, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at Willow Hole Cemetery in North Zulch under the direction of Stroud Funeral Home of Clute. Mr. Williamson died Wednesday, Aug. 9 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1918, in Madison County. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1946 and retired from the Texas Highway Department in 1980 after serving 20 years as a drawbridge operator on the Bryan-Quintana swing bridge. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Annie Lou Williamson of Lake Jackson; sons Jerry Williamson and wife Roxanne of Lake Jackson and Thurman Williamson and wife Carol of Gilmer; granddaughters Renee Hill and husband Jerel and Julie Williamson, all of Gilmer; great-grandson Dustin Hill of Gilmer; sisters Vera Mae Thomas of Clute and Evelyn Winn of Houston; brother Aubra Williamson of Crestview, Fla., and many other loving relatives and friends. The family would like to thank Helping Hands and Heart Hospice and Help, Inc. for their loving care and compassion.
