- In 1685 Samuel was whipped for profaning the Sabbath.
By making extensive land purchases from the Indians he became a prominent landowner. He was one of three men who owned the entire Plum Island, his share being 1/3.
He was called "King Beebe" and "Lord of the Isles".
A rock in the sea nearby was called "Beebe Throne". (From Beebes and Then Some by Clarence Beebe)
Next to Governor Winthrop, he was the wealthiest man in New London, Ct.
In 1713-14 being of Southold, he sold land in Nawayunk (Noank) to James Morgan, Nehemiah Smith and Edward Yeoman, all of Groton.
A deed is on record at Lyme, 7th book, page 384, dated July 20, 1738, in which he distributed to his children and grandchildren a tract of land about 8 miles square on the Connecticut River.
Also a deed of 4,000 acres additional which he purchased of "Awonneco" and with the consent of Captain John Mason. His will was dated 1741 and proved probably in New York in 1742. It is now in the New York Surrogate's office. He was buried in Plum Island. (Clarence Beebe's books).
In religion he was a follower of the Rogerene ideology (being married into the Rogers family) and was always in constant conflict with the church. He is frequently mentioned in the early New London Court records.

June 7, 1692: Samuel Beebe vs Zaccheus Wheeler for stealing a mare. Verdict in favor of plaintiff.
June 7, 1692: Samuel Beebe, Jr. being complained of for beating Zaccheus Wheeler, fined 10 shillings.
June 7, 1692: John Rogers vs Samuel Beebe, Jr. for killing an ox.
Feb. 7, 1692: John Rogers vs Samuel Beebe, Jr. on estate of James Rogers deceased.
Jan 7, 1698: Administration granted to Samuel Beebe Jr on the estate of Christopher Cox deceased.
Jan 17, 1698: Inventory of the estate of Christopher Fox presented to Samuel Beebe, Jr.
June 5, 1711: Samuel Beebe of Southold, RI< NY vs John Rogers and John Jackson of New London, Ct. for taking a negro woman and two children from Beebe's house on Long Island, NY.
His will is dated 11/18/1741 and list his children.
