The Cooley Genealogy, page 390 &391
The following references to Eliakim Cooley II are found in the Town
Records of Springfield as given by Burt. He served as a selectman in 1725, 1727/8 and 1729.
March 8, 1708/9. Also fence viewers were chosen viz ... Eliakim Cooly Junr.. [Eliakim was chosen fence viewer again in 1720/21].
March the 10th. (1713). .. and for measurers For land .... Eliakim Cooly. march ye 12th: 1716/17. The Constables then Chosen were... Eliakim Cooly... who were then Sworen to sd office.
March 10th: 1718/19. ... Eliakim Cooley... were Chosen Tything men...
December ye 18: 1719. Voted to Raise these several Sums of money as followeth: to Eliakim Cooly & Henry Stills & Ebenezer Warriner & Nathaniel Sikes & John Burt for Carieng a way Person Three Shillings a peece all att... 15s oo d
March 9th: 1724/5. Eliakim Cooley.... [and others] were Chosen Surveighers of Highwayes. [Eliakim was chosen again in 1731/2.]
January 2d: 1727/28. There is Granted to Eliakim Cooley for one Bull Two pounds: [in 1728, for two Bulls; in 1729, same.]
.. ninth day of March Anno: Dom: 1730/31.. Eliakim Cooley [and others] were Chosen Hog Reaves.
According to The Longmeadow Centennial, "The house of Eliakim Cooley was struck with lightning, and so injured his daughter Griswold that she never recovered from the hurt wholly, and died in a single state."
