- Not long after her husband's death Margaret (Helm) Foote married John Thornton Fitzhugh, born 29 Sep 1749, d 9 Feb 1809, a man twenty years younger than her first husband.
John Thornton and Margaret (Helm) Fitzhugh had five chidlren, John, Lynaugh, Frank, George, and Fanny.
He was the son of John and Alice (Thornton) Fitzhugh of "Bellaire." His younger brother Thomas Fitzhugh 1753-1829 married Margaret Helm's sister Lucinda Helm.
