- Some published histories say that Eleanor was baptised 9 Dec 1740, the same day as her younger bro David, and that the event was recorded in Rev. John Craig's baptismal records now held by the Old Stone Church, Ft Defiance, VA. One of our family members, a member of that church, recently did her own transcript. She says Eleanor's baptism is not included; the name below David's is Elenor Fulton. I haven't seen the original, so cannot say for sure. Eleanor did not marry tho most published histories say she was the wife of Judge Campbell. The Judge's wife was actually this Eleanor's niece. Mrs Campbell compiled and published a book in which she identifies herself on pg 4: "In 1811, Judge CAMPBELL was married to Miss Eleanor Doak, daughter of Colonel Robert Doak, of Augusta County, Virginia." ("Biographical Sketches; with other Literary Remains of the Late John W. Campbell, Judge of the United States Court for the District of Ohio, Compiled by His Widow". Columbus: Eleanor W. Campbell, 1838.)
