- Elias Shannon and wife Jane are in Saline Co., MO in 1850. They also had a daughter, Mary Jane, b. circa 1825 in KY. Mary Jane was first married to William T. Hencott of Henry Co., KY. After his death, she married James R. Pile (b. KY) in September 1846, and they resided in Missouri until the Fall of 1850 when they went to California, settling at East Placerville, El Dorado County, CA. (Pile is listed on the 1852 California Census as 36 yrs old, b. KY, last resided Missouri.) They moved to Garden Valley, Georgetown Township, El Dorado County in 1852. Mary Jane Shannon Pile died there Nov. 26, 1853, at the age of 28 years and was buried in the "Garden Valley cemetery." (Empire County Argus, 12/3/1853.) The "Garden Valley cemetery" is also known as the Johntown Cemetery. Her grave is unmarked - all burials are unmarked for that matter.
