In the name of God amen, I Fanny Shute of the County of Prince William being in perfect health of Body and of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God calling unto men the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed unto all once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally. First of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hand of almighty God that gave it and my Body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God as touching such worldly estate when with it has pleased God to bless me with it. I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form: Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved sister Peggy Madden one Negro named Cate and her future increase also one negro name Henry to be freely possessed by her and enjoyed forever.
Item I give and bequeath to my niece Fanny Newmann one Negro named Same to her be freely possessed by her forever.
Item: I give and bequeath to George Madden's two daughters named Sucky and Betsy Madden one tract of land to be sold and the money equally divided to the above said Lucky and Betsy Madden.
All the rest of my estate to my beloved sister Frances Reno and I do hereby nominate and appoint my father Scarlett Madden and William O'Rear to be my executors of this my last will and testament. I hereby revoke all other wills by me made at any time declaring this to be my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and fixed my seal this 26th day of January one thousand seven hundred eighty three.....Fanny Shute
