On September 26, 2012, Garrett "Breck" Breckenridge passed away at his home in Rolling Hills. The son of Garrett and Fredella Breckenridge, Garrett was born in South Dakota on May 16, 1928. Following his service in the U.S. Marine Corps, Garrett earned a degree in economics from Occidental College. He joined IBM in 1953 as a sales representative and was eventually promoted to Director of Marketing for the Western United States. After retiring from IBM, Garrett co-founded Results Marketing, a marketing training and consulting firm which included AT&T and Xerox among its clients. He had a passion for sailing, travel, good books, and growing tomatoes. He was the life of any party, displaying a great sense of humor and an amazing capacity for fun. A loving and loyal man, Garrett had the very special quality of maintaining friendships over distance and time. He lived his life to the fullest, and always with integrity and honor. Garrett was well loved and will be greatly missed by his best friend and wife of 25 years, Robin; his children: Susan, Karen, and Jim; grandchildren: Ryan, Jason, Kyle, Reed, and Laura; little sister, Joan; and lifelong friend, Ann. Friends are invited to a celebration of his life on October 21 at the Trump National Golf Club in Palos Verdes, starting at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, it would be deeply appreciated if donations were made to the South Coast Botanic Garden Foundation (310) 544-1948 or the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund (703) 549-0060 or mcsf.org.
