- An obituary from the Williamsport Warren Republican, dated Thursday, July 31, 1884, reads as follows:
"Stueben township has lost another of her old settlers in the person of Wm. Siddens, Sr., who departed this life Friday, July 25, 1884, after many years of suffering from asthma. Deceased was near 80 years of age and had been a resident of Steuben for many years.
WILLIAM SIDDENS, The deceased was born in Tennessee, in the year 1804, December 31. With his parents he moved to Kentucky and lived with them until he was 24 years of age. His parents then moved to Putnam county, Ind., where he was married to Elizabeth B. Wilson, b, January 17, 1829. The children born to this happy marriage were Nancy, James, Polly, Bejamin, and Margaret, of whom James, Mrs. Nancy Compton and Elizabeth Thompson survive their father. His first wife died and he afterwards married Sarah Coffman, b, February 29, 1840. The children by this marriage were Druzilla, Emily, Mathew, Matilda, Ellen, John, Caroline, Wm. C., Janette and Charles, of whom part are living. He moved to Warren county, Ind., in 1852, buying a farm of the Ellsworths, at this time the land being nothing but open prairie, five miles north-west of Marshfield, where he improved him a home and lived until his death, Friday, at 3 o'clock a.m., July 25th, 1884, aged 79 years. He joined the Methodist Church several years ago, and was a zealous Christian up to the time of the death. He suffered with the phthisic and asthma for over 20 years confined to his bed every Summer for several years, resulting finally in his death. The remains were interred in the Johnson cemetary, Saturday, July 26th, 1884."

- William Siddens was born 31 Dec. 1804 in TN, died 25 July. 1884 in Marshfield, Warren Co., IN, and was buried in Johnson Cem. He first married Elizabeth B. Wilson, daughter of Benjamin Wilson and Mary Magdelene Coffman, on 17 Jan. 1828 in Putnam Co., IN. She was born about 1810 in KY, and died in 1837 in Putnam Co., IN. He married second Sarah Ann Coffman, daughter of Jacob Coffman and Nancy Earp, on 29 Feb. 1840 in Putnam Co., IN. She was born 25 Sept. 1817 in Bourbon Co., KY, died 28 Jan. 1894 in Marshfield, IN, and was buried in Redwood Cem. Sarah had a son by a previous marriage, Elijah Collins Cofman, born 3 Nov. 1833 and died 15 June 1913. Elijah married Sarah Adeline Randel (#86) on 7 Aug. 1856
