  	On January 24, 1821 Mrs. Floyd (Letitia Preston) witnessed the death of her Brother, William. She had to write William's wife the sad news. "He died as he lived, satisfied with the justice and goodness of his Creator." Devout but not saccharine, she then added "A friend to all holiest men and the foe of scoundrels." Signing the letter to her sister-in-law "Your afflicted Sister," Mrs. Floyd expressed the belief, "Oh my Sister what a shield and stay his precious family have lost. I hope God will enable them to bear this sad bereavement."
