---------------
James Mayberry Randolph was killed, in another county, and less than a year later, his wife married James Barnett Shannon. Then James Barnett Shannon was shot and died. However, they had one child, Jessie O. Shannon. In the 1850 census, Tabitha Jerusha Shelton Randolph Shannon, the wife of J. M. Randolph and of James B. Shannon is listed with five Randolph brothers and sisters, six Shannon children, and Jessie O. Shannon. There were also four boarders and 10 slaves.
One of the boarders who was in the 1850 census, named AbramMyers, married Tabitha Shelton after the death of J. M. Randolph and J. B. Shannon. She had two more children by him. One of them died around the age of nineteen or twenty while he was in a boarding school in Shermon , TX . The other Myers son was Joseph F. Myers, who married Eula Colbert, the daughter of HolmesColbert and Elizabeth Love Colbert (Aunt Betsy, who, along with her daughter Eula helped to raise our grandmother, Granny Elizabeth Williams, after her mother, Elizabeth Humphreys, died at Granny?s birth.
Grandmother Tabitha Jerusha Shelton, Randolph, Shannon, Myers, married one more time, in Sherman, TX to a man who was named W. W. Thomas. She was 59 at that time. He had children; I don?t know how many but at least two, and there probably were more. When they moved to I. T. I cannot find anything that saysthat W. W. Thomas came with them. Since Tabitha?s other three husbands were shot, I hope this one had a peaceful death. She lived a long life and is buried in the old Paul?sValley cemetery.
