Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, 81, lifelong resident of the Kingston community was found dead in her home Friday, August 21. It was thought that she died about 6:15 a.m. and was found in mid-morning by a neighbor.
The deceased was born July 12, 1872, in Madison County, the daughter of John and Rachel Ann Phillips Rogers. She was a member of the Baptist church for more than 65 years.
She is survived by two sons, Loss Grigg of Kingston, and Johnnie Grigg, Oxnard, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Combs of Oxnard; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ansety, Kingston, Mrs. Miranda Rogers, Ozark, Mrs. Rozetta Hathorne, and Mrs. Hessie Grigg, both of Lawton, Okla.; three brothers, Jeff Rogers, Kingston, Johnnie Rogers, Springdale, and Lovie Rogers, Garden Grove, Calif.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Baptist church at Kingston conducted by Revs. Lester Cline and Curtis Bearden. Burial was in the Kingston cemetery with the Brashears Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Mack Cain, Delmar Campbell, Hugh Smith, Hugh Bunch, Otto Stamps, and Glen McCollough.
