- Gladys Estelle Kirk married George Mansell Sliger on 1 June 1919 in Elizabethtown, Ill where they had arrived in a row boat.
Gladys was born 25 October 1903 the fourth of eight children of Marion Arthur "Bud" Kirk and Lilia Bell Fritts.
George and Gladys made their home on the farm where George was born near the community of Hebron, Crittenden County. Some of their neighbors at the time were Jackson Winders, Sam Lucas, Tom and Frank Belt and Robert Underdown, in fact Jane Underdown was midwife to many of George and Gladys' eleven children.

3) Georgia Estelle, born 20 February 1924, married Charles Leroy Hodge 3 July 1940,
4) Marion Louis, born 7 May 1926, married Iona Christine Sturgeon 2 November 51,
5) Betty Jean, born 5 February 1931, married Charles Pohlman,
6) Robert Neil, born 16 April 1933, married Miriam Mackey,
7) Alfred Ray, born 12 March 1935, married Mary Jean Canzoneri,
8) Roberta Lee, born 16 July 1939, married Howard Cash,
9) Norma Fay, born 25 January 1942, married Jim Hamby,
10) Kenneth Doyle, born 30 March 1944, married Joan Szurleys,
11) Loretta Kay, born 4 April 1951, married Ronnie Glore.
Gladys was a homemaker and George a farmer all of his life. They attended the Hurricane Methodist Church. After George's death at the Marion, Illinois Veteran's Hospital, Gladys sold the farm and moved to Marion, KY where she died June 2, 1979 at the age of 75 years. They are buried at Mapleview Cemetery in Marion, KY.
