- Joe married Patsy Gallagher May 2,1964.
******
It was in the community of Shinewell,
The year was 1938,
Theo and Ethel were expecting a little one,
Big brother Darrel thought this was just great.
Joseph Edward Farley was a long name
When it was said,
So in his younger days,
He was known to all as Joe Ed.
Joe Ed grew up to be a looker,
All the girls thought he was keen.
But it wasn't until his late twenties,
That he found the girl of his dreams.
He was already in the Air Force,
So in Wichita, Patsy finished her school,
As a sergeant and a teacher,
Is how they made their dreams come true.
Fatherhood called,
But so did Uncle Sam,
He had to leave his six week old baby,
To go to Viet Nam.
So back to Oklahoma and Arkansas
With kin folk they would stay,
Patsy and baby Twana
Would wait for him and try to be brave.
Joe made it home safely,
And they moved to a new base.
Just a short few years later,
Joey was born on Christmas Day.
They thought that this was their complete family,
A boy and a girl,
But Michelle showed up a few years later,
And gave their world a whirl!
With three kids to fill the household,
There was no reason to be sad,
He loved every minute,
Because now he was known as Dad.
Twenty-two years in the Air Force,
Oklahoma was on his mind.
So he moved his family back to Shinewell,
So the country life they could find.
Small town life was a good life,
Joe went to the Vo-Tech and chose a new career,
The fact that his teens would soon be grown and be leaving,
Was truly his only fear.
Each child found their own way to adult hood.
They each found true love of their own.
It was time for Joe and Patsy,
Now that the children were gone.
The silence in the house did not last long,
The grand kids were starting to come.
Soon there would be a whole houseful,
Who knew grand kids, would be so much fun.
The move to Antlers was such a big change.
New friends and a beautiful new home.
To his grand kids and all of the kids on the block,
Big Daddy was how he was known.
Joe has met many people, done many things,
Over this whole world he did roam,
But now Jesus calls, and we say our good-byes,
It's time for Big Daddy to come home.
