Robert Richard Foreman was the eldest of 2 known sons born to John Foreman and his wife, Mary Lawrence, who established "Greenwreath" Plantation in Pitt County.
Robert was an attorney and married Elizabeth Williams, daughter of Dr. Robert Williams, who served in the Revolutionary War, and his (1st) wife Fanny Randolph. We know from Dr. Willams' will that Robert and Elizabeth had 2 known children: John Ivey Foreman and Robert Richard Foreman, Jr. A third child, Priscilla Ann Rebecca Foreman (1807-1829), who married Dr. Robert Franklin John Haywood Williams, may also be their offspring.
Robert died young in 1809, at the age of 29 years. It is not known what became of his wife. His son and namesake, Robert Richard Foreman married and had a child, John Ivey Foreman (1854-1854) who is buried here.
With the passing of Robert Richard Foreman, his younger brother, Ivey Foreman, was the only surviving child of John Foreman and would inherit "Greenwreath" Plantation.
