- Richard Beard, Jr. was born about 1651 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. His parents were Richard Beard and Rachel Robbins. He was a surveyor.
He did not marry Susannah Puddington.
When his father died about 1681, Richard and his brother, John, inherited the home plantation and all the lands except those left to his daughters.
In 1684 he laid out the town of Annapolis. He had to resurvey it in 1695 when Annapolis became the new colonial capital.
He built the Susannah brigantine. It was commanded by Edward Baiter and lost at Cape May.
In the early 1700s, his nephew, Richard Clark, terrorized Annapolis.
