- It will be noted that the son Edward was not named , presumably because he had received his full portion. Proof that he survived and was Edward Shepard of Middletown is afforded, not only by probate of his childless brother Samuel, but by the following deed , dated 3 July 1710: John Shepard, Samuel Shepard , Thomas Shepard, William Goodwin and wife Elizabeth. John Stedman, Thomas Butler and wife Abigail, and Thomas Ensign and wife Hannah, all of Hartford, Edward Shepard and Jacob White and wife Deborah, all of Middletown, Thomas Rowley and Violet his wife of Windsor, and Benajah Stone and wife Sarah of Guilford, sold to Jonathan Bigelow of Hartford all righL in two pieces of land belonging to Thomas Greenhill of Hartford, deceased. There is a matching deed given the same date by Jonathan Bigelow, Jr.t of Hartford to the above grantors, of all right in the estate of Thomas Greenhill except seven acres. [Hartford Deeds.]
