- Services for Mr. Ernest B. Collins, 60, of Carthage, were held Friday, October 24, at Jimerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Powell officiating. Graveside services were at Panola County Restland Memorial Park.
Mr. Collins died Wednesday, October 22 at Panola General Hospital.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Collins of Carthage; five daughters: Cody Siler, Margaret Ruso, Vicki Collins, all of Shreveport; Myrita Kruebbe of Tyler and Kimberly Collins of Carthage; three step-daughters: Brenda Abraham of Waco, Kathy Tillis and Carra Carden both of Houston; five step-sons: Rex Cunningham and Allen Cunningham both of Waco; Monte Cunningham of Houston and Lawson Cunningham of Rickman, Tenn.; four brothers: Homer L. Collins of DeKalb, Edd Ewing and Henery [sic Henry] Ewing both of Owentown and Albert Collins of Calbzon [sic Cabazon], Ca. Five grandchildren and 17 step-grandchildren.
Mr. Collins was born August 1, 1926 in Lindale. He was the son of Frank A. Collins and Sarah Dunahoo Collins. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 353 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 562.
Pallbearers were J.W. Davis, Clifford Gary, Maurice Goolsby, Martin Pickett, Joe Cullen Smith and E.W. Tice.
