1850 Chambers Co census - taken Dec 18th. (Yellowed Pages Vol 7) Shows Charles, age 10, and Ferninana, male, age 6, as "residence 190." "Residence 189" is William Maass, age 30, farmer from Prussia, Charlotte, age 23 from Prussia, Celina, age 4, born in Louisiana, and Alvina, age 1, born in Texas.

Enlisted Civil War 6/14/1862. Served Co E, 11th (Spaight's) Batt'n. Promoted to cprl c. late 1863. AWOL 9/29/1864.

Married after he was discharged from the Confederate Army, They farmed in the area now known as Central Gardens Addition, north of Nederland.

1870 Census (taken 16 June 1870), lived in River Settlement (Post Office - Bmt) , town of Sabine Pass, Pct 3. Prussian (German) families comprised about 54 of the 65-70 residents of 1870. Charles was listed in the 1870 Grigsby's Bluff agricultural census with 160 acres worth $160. He and his brothers also had sugar mills on their farms, producing 200 gallons each in 1879. Fred Gentz farmed 20 acres worth $150; Sam Lee, 80 acres worth $500; James Sparks, 160 acres, $500. Along with three other farmers, they produced 1.700 bushels of corn, 420 bushles of sweet potatoes, 250 gallons of syrup, and Lee grew 4 1/2 bales of cotton. Three of the six owned 210 bearing peach trees, while two others had already picked 170 bushels of peaches. The same six owned 416 range cattle, 145 horses, 245 hogs, and 13 oxen. (ag census 1880) William Gentz was counted in the Smith and Grigsby's ag census with 200 acres worth $500.

They eventually left Sabine Pass when the hurricanes ran them out and settled on a farm sough of the present-day Dupont Chemical Co. In 1900, the Charles Gentz household was No. 207 in the county census, with five minor children living in the family. Gentz died in 1904, and both he and his wife are buried in Magnolia Cemetery. Another family (res. 112, 1870 census) were Charles and Matilda Gentz (of Prussia), who married after Gentz discharge from the Confederate Army, and who farmed in the vicinity of present-day Central Gardens Addition, north of Nederland. Another partly German family at Smith's Bluff in 1870 (res. 115) was B. Stewart, whose wife was the former Wilhelmina Wiltz, born in Germany. As late as 1900, there were still children from those early German families, who were attending school in Nederland, as follows: Frank, Margaret, Gelder, and Ida Gentz; and John, May, and Emma Staffen.[19]

Know all men by these presents, that I, Charles Christopher Gentz, of the County of Jefferson and State of Texas, being in good health and of sound and disposing mind and memory, calling to mind the frailty and uncertainty of life, and being irous of setting my worldly affairs and directing how the estate with which it has pleased God to bless me, shall be disposed of after my decease, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all wills by me at any time heretofore made.
First,
I direct that all my just debts, together with funeral expenses, shall be paid, and that the legacies hereafter given shall after the payment of my debts, be paid out of my estate.
Second,
I give, bequeath and grant to each of my beloved children, to-wit: Christopher Gentz, Mary Cline, wife of Ed Cline, Lena Courts, wife of Clifton Courts, Claude Courts, wife of Helmer Courts, Edde Gray, wife of Hugh Gray, Charlie Gentz, Maggie ntz, Franklin Gentz, Gilder Gentz, and Flavian Gentz, the sum of Ten ($10.00) Dollars, to be paid to each of them in cash as soon after my decease as conveniently may be done.
Third,
I give, bequeath and grant unto my beloved wife, Matilda Gentz, all the remainder and residue of my property, real, personal and mixed, including my house hold furniture, cattle, notes, accounts, and cash whersoever found. The real estate I eby give, bequeath and grant to her is situated in Jefferson County, State of Texas, designated as follows, to-wit: One hundred and seventy seven (177) acres on which I now live, known as the McFadden ranch, located about nine miles South East of Beaumont; all one Block in the Cartwright Addition to the City of Beaumont, known as the C.C. Gentz homestead; three lots in Neches River Park Addition, known as lots Nos. 13, 14, and 15, in Block No. Nine (9), Neches River Park Addition to the City of Beaumont.
Fourth,
It is my further wish, desire and will, that after the death of my beloved wife and myself, that whatever property remains it shall be sold and the proceeds divided equeally between our beloved children.
Fifth,
I hereby make, constitute and appoint my beloved wife, Matilda Gentz, my sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament without bond, and desire that no Court proceedings be had upon my estate save and except the probating and proving of s will.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand the 27th day of Sept A.D. 1902, in the presence of R.G. Dawson and P.A. Dowlen, who attest the same at my request.

DEATH OF CHAS. GENTZ

Will Be Laid to Rest in This City This Afternoon

Chas. Gentz, an old and respected citizen and rice farmer living about nine miles from the city on the Kansas City Southern railroad between this city and Port Arthur, died yesterday evening from a protracted illness. Undertaker A. E. Brulins called to take charge of the body and the remains will be laid to rest this afternoon in Magnolia cemetery, the funeral occurring from the Pipkin & Brulin undertaking parlors. Notes:

By 1880, Charles and Matilda were living next door to Anna McCall, who was by then a widow and her youngest child was Claudie McCall. That caught my eye because my grandmother, Lillian Courts Jones' mother was Claudie Gentz. On further scrutiny, I see that Claudie McCall was born 1872, and I also saw that her father died that same year - that's sad. In the meantime, in 1872 when she was born and had lost her father, my Matilda and Charles' youngest child at that time was Lena, 2 yrs old. They had another girl in '74, and then in '76 is when my Claudie Gentz, my g-grandma, was born. I'm thoroughly convinced that my Claudie Gentz was named after little Claudie McCall, now 4 yrs old!! I was really excited to find where my grandmother's name came from. Some records have her as "Claude" which I knew she went by Claudie. But anyway -- that's where her name came from!
I also found Anna McCall in 1900. By then she declared 7 births and 5 living. All 5 are still home. Missing is little Claudie McCall. Since we have no 1890 census, we don't know when she died - unless there's some other record I'm not aware . But now I wonder if perhaps the child died around the time that my Claudie was born to further enhance the honor of having a baby named for her.


Claudie died suddenly from a brain hemorrhage in 1916- leaving 8 children. My grandmother, Lillian Courts, was only 12, but she talked often to me about how pretty her mama was, dark curly hair and tall. My g-mother was 4'10! so "tall" is relative) and Helmer Courts, Claudie's widower, never remarried to raise all those kids.

Mrs. S. H. Courts, 39 years old, died about 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon at her home, 2060 Cable Street. She had been sick for several weeks.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon by Rev. Frank Clark. Internment followed at Smith cemetery, near McFadden station, south of the city. Broussard, Little & Co. had charge of the burial. The pallbers were Jeff Pyron, Will Barrow, John Webb, Victor Holtz, Harry Richardson and F. L. Wallace.
Mrs. Courts is survived by her husband, two sons, Hal and Clyde Courts, and five daughters, Mrs. Wallace Choates and Misses Gladys, Beatrice, Lillian and Daisy Courts.

Buried:
Claudie, along with many other family members, waw buried in in McFaddin Cemetery, which was between Nederland and Beaumont. When DuPont built their plant, the cemetery was discovered and after court hearings, it was decided to excavate the cemetery and move the interred. The remains of about 30 or so were gathered and placed into four concrete boxes, seven or eight in each box. See media attached for pictures and documentation.

Charles had a wife, Mary, who is listed in 1910 census and she is also listed as his wife in his draft registration as nearest relative. It's speculation that Kittie Marie was his child with her.

Frank was a pioneer rancher in Jefferson County. When only 12 years old, he began his ranching career. He started out as an employee of the late W.P.H. McFaddin. While employed with Mr. McFaddin, Brahman Cattle were introduced to this area. Frank later on was ranch foreman for the Gilbert Ranches, and he more recently was ranch manager for the Paggi Brothers. His father was a Civil War Hero at the Battle of Sabine Pass. He was especially known by cattlemen for his hand-made whips and horsehair bridle reins. He was the son of Charles Gentz who fought under Lt. Dick Dowling at the Battle for Sabine Pass during the Civil War. Frank died at 4:20 AM on May 7, 1963, at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a long illness. The Rev Paul Fee said a requiem mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in China, Texas for him. Pallbearers:
Lloyd Kemp, George McDonald, Jimmy Dickens, Kenneth Day, Joe Leger, James C. Courts, Ray Harder, and Robert Mooney, Jr. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery by Broussard's Mortuary of Beaumont, Texas.

Frank's first wife, Maude Boyt was the daughter of Daphine Williams, who is also buried at Magnolia Cemetery. Maude was a cattle woman on her own. She worked cattle right beside the men. She died from a ruptured appendix.

Frank remarried Odile Leger. I spent one summer in the early 1950s with Frank, Odile, and her nephew Eddie at the ranch. I remember the early morning feeding of the animals and working past dark on the many chores that make up ranch life.as even involved in a cattle drive down Old Sour Lake Road moving cattle from one pasture to another. When Dad, James "Coley" Courts, went to visit Uncle Frank, he would always bring a pint of whiskey to him. I always thought it kind of funny that the Paggi's had sheep on the ranch next door. We are lead to believe that cattle and sheep don't mix. Well, so much for that myth.
I know Daddy missed Frank, and his brother Gilder "Doc," when they passed on. They were true pioneers in their way of life. The later generations will never know the debt that's owed to these people that stuggled through their whole lifeti

Kirby was named for John Henry Kirby, the lumber tycoon, his father's friend. He was a World War I Veteran with General Pershing in France. Kirby inhaled mustard gas in France during the fighting of 118. The Army doctors told him if he were to catch a cold, it would kill him. Kirby died from pneumonia in 1932. His brother James named two of his sons after him, James Kirby and Charles Edward. My dad, Coley, told me that as sick as Kirby was, upon returning to New York from France - the Army gave them a 20-dollar gold piece, an oil skin slicker, and "your country thanks you" - he walked and hitched rides to Beaumont, Texas (almost two months to get home.)

Henry's nickname was "Slick." He was called Harry by all the family members. During his younger life, Harry worked for the timber industry. He was a timber estimator for Reliance Lumber Company. This job gave Harry a deferrment during Woar I. Uncle Harry was a butcher in later years and also ran a barbecue business. The barbecue stand was part of the Dickerson Drive-in on College Street in Beaumont, Texas.
Harry was an avid baseball fan, as I write this, the playoffs are going on to determine who plays in the World Series (Oct 1996). I watched a lot of games with Uncle Harry in 1970s, as we lived in the same neighborhood. I know in my heartould love to be here for this series. He was a person of good h umor who loved his family very much. Family members still remember his supurb handwriting skills. His penmanship was of the script from the last century. It was very beautiful to see.

Today is October 12, 1996. Daddy passed away September 4, 1996. I have so many things I want to tell about him that it's all running together.
Coley is a nickname which everyone used when referring to him. Coley was born at the turn of the century before cars and airplanes. As a young man he worked with his father and brothers in the timber industry in the Beaumont area. Daddy d for Socony Vacuum Shipping in the '20s and '30s hauling barges of oil and gas to all the surrounding states. These tugboats were of the sea-going type, very large and expensive. Dad told me of an episode in the 1930s with one of the tugs catching fire. The location of this disaster was in the Louisiana River Bottoms. The boat was completely destroyed and the crew was streanded in the water up to their chins through the whole night. The next day a passing Cajun fisherman picked them up. They wer taken to a small place in the swamp. Dad said they were more worried about losing the boat than anything else.
Coley worked on these boats until the early 1930s when he went to work for Magnolia Petroleum Co.
Daddy met my mother the day she was born. The family story was they lived across the street from Mom's parents at the time of her birth. Daddy was 14 years old at this time. He jokingly asked Grandmother to "save this one for me." Sure e, 18 years later they were married. Mom and Dad were married for 62 years. They had seven children - 4 four boys and 3 girls. Coley loved to hunt and fish whenever possible. Daddy had an outgoing personality and would you you the shirt off his back. He retired in January 1960, Enjoying 36 years of doing what he wanted until his death. Daddy has given all the kids a history lesson of Beaumont during the teens up t the World War II era. I think he enjoyed talking about the "good old days" more than anything else. ( We miss him a lot)

O'Neal in the Port Arthur directory, and family only knew him as Oneal, not focusing so much on the spelling. Both men were from Louisiana, about the same age, both worked for Texas Company, lived in the Groves, and both buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in the Groves.
Day before yesterday somebody contacted me thru my site about the O'Niells in general - and then, lo and behold, yesterday somebody contacted me about the Choates - again in general but --- wow! Such a crazy coincidence to get two back to back contacts that brought into focus my great Aunt Bea! I knew her b.d. was August, but not the date. So, it piqued my interest -- what if this was some karma contacting me on her b.d. So, I set out to try to find it.
So, in the process looked up addresses in Port Arthur for her and Charles Magill while he was still married to Lillie -- and her addresses. Things didn't really add up because Lillie died after he but still living at the same address. Also, Charles WWII draft said he was 5'6" and 115 pounds. My mother met Bea's husband O'Neal only once, but she remembered him being somewhat stout, and family knew him to be widowed with children. Since Lillie lived after Charles, then that would indicate they were divorced, but not if she was living in the same house.
Continuing to search for addresses, I found Beatrice O'Neal living on Taft. When I asked my mom, she remembered that street being the street she used to address Xmas cards. It showed her married to C. S. O'Neal. Doing a new search for C.M. O'Neal, I came across his death certificate, showing his residence at the time of death at the same address on Taft, his given name being Cayrden Simmons O'Neal - so there's C.S. We had the wrong husband!
My mother remembered that Grammiere Oberle in Port Arthur handled her funeral, so I called them and they graciously supplied me with the info they had on her.

Since she is buried as Beatrice Choate, it had appeared that she must have reverted back to her 1st husband's name after O'Neal died; and then her name given as Alma B when she always went as Bea or Beatrice - somehow we had just not found her death record.
But it's all straight now, and I am quite sure this was her contacting me to say, hey, you've had it wrong long enough. Let's get it fixed! :))
I am leaving the workup of Charles Magill Smith O'Niell in my file, though he or none of his line are not related to anyone in my family that I know of. But I imagine the error has been duplicated through others and hopefully this will dispel the mistake. Besides, somebody has already contacted me about this line and found it helpful, so maybe it will help some other O'Niell researchers.

Mrs. Lillian Francis Jones, 73, of 4310 Congress, died at 11:45 A.M. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Beaumont on January 22, 1904 and resided here all her life. She was a member of the Washington Blvd. Christian Church, Sh Park Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 1056 and the Rebecca Lodge.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 8, 1977 at 3:30 P.M. in the chapel of Carroll-Wallace Funeral Home with Rev. Delmar Dabney, pastor of Cathedral in the Pines Christian Center officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. R.E. Moyer and Mrs. Dean Redford both of Beaumont; one son, Ogden K. Jones, Jr., of Beaumont; four sisters, Beatrice O'Neal of Groves, Gladys Runnels of Beaumont, Margaret Mudd of Colmesneil and Daisy Douglas of Houston; one brother, Hal Courts of Vidor; three grandchildren, Mrs. T.L. Sharp and D.A. Jones, both of Beaumont and
W.K. Parmley of Houston; four great-grandchildren, Cynthia Ann Parmley of Houston and Chad Allan Jones, John E. Sharp and Robert L. Sharp, all of Beaumont.

Pallbearers will be selected from South Park Masonic Lodge No. 1320.2

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Grammie-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the fual home.

Beaumont -- a rosary will be recited tonight at 8 o'clock in Broussard's mortuary chapel for Frank (Top Gentz) Manovich, 59, Fannett rice farmer, who died Saturday at 11:45 p.m., in Hotel Dieu after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Paul A. Fee, pastor of Resurrection Catholic Church of Houston, officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia cemerery.
Mr. Manovich was a native of Port Arthur but had spent most of his life in the Fannett area. He was reared on the Gilbert ranch there and in his youth had made a name for himself as a rodeo performer.
Survifors include three aunts, mrs. Norman Chase, Sr., of Beaumont, Mrs. Frank Gentz of China, and Mrs. Beulah Jackson of Beaumopnt, and a nephew J. W. Manovich of Pasadena.

He was born on December 13, 1936, in Beaumont, to Mary Bonin Courts and James Cole Courts and was a lifelong resident of the area. Kirby was a Beaumont High School and Lamar University graduate, an Air Force veteran, and retired from Goodyear Chemical as a mechanical engineer.

Kirby is survived by his wife, Camilla Courts; children, Zoe Mayes, Chris Mayes, Susan Davis, Laurie Pink, Lisa Dillon, and Tammy Gallier; siblings, Shirley Burkes, Nancy White, Jerry Courts, Patricia Conley, and Charles Courts; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Anthony Courts.

Everyone calls Anthony "Tony." He attended Pennsylvania Elementary, David Crockett Jr. High, and Beaumont High School in Beaumont, Texas. Tony also attended Sam Houston College in Huntsville, Texas, and Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas. He ived in Corpus Christi most of his grown-up life. Tony has been employed by Metropolitan Insurance in the Corpus area for 30 years.

Anthony Tony Cole Courts, age 69, passed away on October 19, 2012. Anthony was born on September 11, 1943 to James Coley Courts and Mary Louise Bonin Courts. He graduated from Beaumont High School in 1962. Tony was a consistent sales achiever who always stood out above his peers in sales, not only in South Texas but in the U.S. Anthony Tony worked as a financial advisor at MetLife for 45 years and was well recognized in the insurance industry as a leader. He received numerous prestigious awards throughout his career including: Leaders Conference; 5 times qualified Million Dollar Round Table; Chairman's Awards with Kestler Financial Group; and Masters Forum Platinum Club Producer for Allianz. Anthony was a loving father, brother, uncle, father-in-law, genuine friend, mentor and confidant. He never met a stranger. He had a love for people and everyone loved him. To him everyone was Babe. His hobbies included a love for all cars, hot rods, vintage and new. Anthony is survived by his two children, Holly A. Clapp (Norman), and L. Cole Courts (former wife Holly Courts); grandchildren, Bridget and Bethany Clapp, Riley, Bailey and Brady Courts; Anthony's former wife, Mary Courts Knocke; six siblings, Kirby Courts (Camilla) and his children, Lisa and Laurie; Shirley Burke and her children Scott, Lance and Kim; Charles Peanut Courts (Jo Ann) and children, Cindy, Linda and Nikki; Patricia Conley (Kenneth) and children, Kenny, Lynne and Kristen; Nancy White and children, Darin and Mallory; and Jerry Courts. Hal Courts, Jr., known as Sonny to his immediate family and close relatives, was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. On Wednesday doctors at M.D. Anderson in Houston removed the tumor, which was about as big as a golf ball. There are fingers that go deeper which they were unable to remove. Today Uncle Sonny fed himself some grits, and was able to walk a short distance. He hasn't spoken yet, but once the swelling is down we are hopeful he will be able to. We are awaiting word on the type of treatment he will need, and of when he can come home. All prayers on his behalf are greatly appreciated. Will update as more information comes available.

Uncle Sonny is hospitalized in Beaumont at Hermann Memorial Baptist. He was admitted Wednesday evening with what was believed to be pneumonia. However, doctors discovered that a blood clot had moved through his heart and lungs causing anolism. Doctors called the family in, believing he wouldn't make it through the night. Miraculously, he did survive. However, he has continued to have setbacks including partial paralysis of his stomach and problems associated with that. He was doing better last night, but the situation is extremely serious. Please pray for Uncle Sonny in his fight with brain cancer and other complications. Aunt Hazel and the girls, Jennifer, Julie, Jill and Jackie and their families need your prayers as well. I will update as new information comes available.

My uncle, Hal Ogden Courts, Jr., better known as Sonny to all his relatives, passed away the morning of July 3rd, surrounded by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, sons-in-law, brother and sisters, and some of his neices. The family sang "ly and Tenderly, Jesus is Calling," as he took his last breath. He was finally at peace.

Uncle Sonny battled a brain tumor and fast moving cancer from December 20th until July 3rd, never waning in his faith and knowing that at the end of his journey he was going Home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Uncle Sonny was a handsome man, and always reminded me a bit of Andy Griffith. He had a personality that made him many friends over the years and was adored by his family.

He served his country in the Korean War, was a Mason, and longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Vidor. He and Aunt Hazel raised four daughters, Jennifer, Julie, Jill and Jackie. They blessed him with seven grandchildren, Alexis and Ashley, daughters of Julie and husband Raymond Saunders; Katie B. , daughter of Jennifer Bourgeois; Dominique and Brittney, daughters of Jacki and Dwayne Farmer; and Branch and Dusty Harper, sons of Jill and Paul Harper.

He loved nothing in life more than being with his children, and as a testament to that, they all stayed within a mile or two of his and Aunt Hazel's residence. He took care of his parents in their old age, quitting his job to make sure they were properly looked after. He would come to the aid of anyone who needed his help and always put others first.

I'll always remember Uncle Sonny's quick smile and laugh, and the way he and my Dad (Dickie) would come up with pranks to play on others. They were never mean, just funny.

Aside from his family, he loved going to the auction sales in Southeast Texas with my Dad and his son-in-law Dwayne Farmer. They would meet up with other men and sit in the heat and dust just for the fun of it (although on occasion a horse or cow was purchased). It was their "social scene" and those who knew him from there will miss him as well.

His Granddaugher Alexis wrote a poem about "Pawpaw Killjoy," a nickname she gave him when she was but a little girl. She read the poem at his service as a last act of love to her Grandpa. The daughters all offered their own words of beauty about the man who was their father, and our Uncle Sonny. He loved hymns, and the entire congregation sang his favorites. His nephew-in-law, David Burnham, sang "Go Rest High on That Mountain." It was a fitting service for a man like Uncle Sonny.

He will be missed by all, but his memory will be with us through the years. We were all blessed to have known this special man.

Hal Ogden "Sonny" Courts, Jr., 70, a native of Beaumont and resident of Vidor for 43 years, died July 3rd at his residence following a battle with cancer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidor. He served in the United States Army as a Sergeant and was in the Korean War. He was also a Master Mason. He was a longtime employee of Ohmsted Machine Works and Fabricon. He was born January 4, 1932, in Beaumont, Texas to Hal Ogden Courts, Sr., and Lirline Goode Courts who preceded him in death. He was a member of a large extended family and surrounded by loving family, friends and neighbors during his illness. He is survived by his faithful wife, Hazel Courts of Vidor; daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer Bourgeois of Vidor, Julie and Raymond Saunders of Vidor, Jill and Paul Harper of Vidor, and Jackie and DeWayne Farmer of Vidor. Grandchildren Alexis and Ashley Saunders, Katie Bourgeois, Dominique and Brittany Farmer, and Branch and Dustin Harper all of Vidor. He is also survived by his brother Richard H. Ellen Courts Hargett, 73, of Lake Charles passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 in her home.

Mrs. Hargett was born and raised in Beaumont, TX and was a 1958 graduate of Beaumont High School. She has lived fifty years in Lake Charles. She worked twenty years with the Calcasieu Parish School Board at College Oaks Elementary with Special Needs Children. Mrs. Hargett took great pride in being an active part in her children's lives, having been room mother, PTO President, followed countless activities and was always their biggest cheerleader. During her younger years, she enjoyed painting. She also enjoyed entertainment, traveling from Houston to Biloxi to see shows with her family and friends. She especially loved her "Wednesday Lunch Bunch ? girls day out." Mrs. Hargett will be most remembered as a friendly, fun loving, lady with class.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of fifty years, Larry Hargett of Lake Charles; daughter, Pam Powers and husband Paul of Lake Charles; son, Russell Hargett and wife Beth of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Taylor Powers, Emma Hargett and Parker Hargett, all of Lake Charles; one sister, Faye Goodman of Vidor, TX; one brother, Richard Courts of Vidor, TX and one sister-in-law, Hazel Courts of Vidor, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal O. and Lirline Goode Courts and one brother, Hal O. Courts, Jr.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday May 01, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Charlie Langford will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Tuesday will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
