    Ernest "Red" Spider, 75, formerly of 1701 Hale St., Alton, died at 10:40 a.m. Saturday at th e Anna-Henry Nursing Home in Edwardsville.
    He retired in 1963 from the maintenance department at Olin Corp.
    His wife, Ethel, died Nov. 4, l973.
    Surviving are three sons, Duane of Sunnyvale,; Calif., Eugene of Sylmar, Calif. and Darrel l of Trenton, N.J.; a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Tolbert of Alton, Ill; 11 grandchildren; nine gre at - grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Laura Sheff of VanNuys. Calif.
    Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gent Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Tod d Taylor, pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church, officiating.
    Burial will be in Fieldon Cemetery.

    Nellie M. Tolbert, 57, of Alton, died at 2:47 a.m.Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital
    following a short Illness
    Housekeeper at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, she was born in Fieldon a daughter of th e Ernest and Ethel (Carrol) Snider, and married Charles L. Tolbert Sr. on Aug. 28,1942 He die d in 1960.
    Surviving are a. daughter, Carolyn Parker of Houston, Texas; a son, Charles Jr. of Wood River ; five grandchildren; and three brothers, Eugene Snider of Sylmar, Calif., Darrell Snider o f Pebble Beach, N.J., and Duane Snider of Sunny vale, Calif.
    Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p m Thursday at Gent Funeral Home where services will be hel d at 11 a.m Friday with the Rev. Rudolph Mueller officiating.
    Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery and the American Cancer Society has been named as a memoria l.

    Nellie married Charles L. Tolbert on 28 Aug 1942. Charles was born on 1 Oct 1919 in Michael, Calhoun, Illinois; died on 13 Aug 1960 in San Fernando, Los Angeles, California; was buried on 18 Aug 1960 in Hardin Cem, Hardin, Calhoun Co, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Duane A. Snider, 78, of Sunnyvale, Calif., died Monday, Sept 6, 2004 at Sunnyvale Health Car e Center.
    A 1943 graduate of Hardin High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943, served in the Pa cific Theater during WW II and received an honorable discharge in 1947. he obtained a bachel or of science degree in electronics engineering at American Institute of Engineering in Chica go. he was a member of many organizations including a life member of the American Legion an d VFW.
    born Dec. 22, 1925 in Hardin, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ethel Snider. He marrie d Eileen Carlson Mar 3, 1951 and she survives.
    Also surviving are three daughters, Cindy Snider of Sunnyvale, Calif., Dalice Snider of Aubur n, Wash. and Velvet Volonte of Stockton, Calif.; a son, Stanley Snider of Chugiak, Alaska ; a brother, Darrell Snider of St. Lucie, Fla.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
    He was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Snider, Tolbert and a brother, Eugene Snider.
    The funeral was private.

    Miss Melissa Dawn Tolbert, 8 years old, of 206 E. St, Louis Ave., East Alton, was killed at 2 :30 a.m. today when a truck ran into her home.
    She was a member of the third grade class at Washington Elementary School in East Alton.
    Surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tolbert; a sister, Amy Michelle, 3 months ; a brother, Charles, 5; her grandparents, Mrs. Nellie Tolbert of Alton and Mr, and Mrs. Robe rt McDaniel of East Alton; great-grandparents, Emll Tolbert of Hamburg, Ill., and Mrs. and Mr s. Julius McDanlel of Meridocia, 111.
    Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at Marks Mortuary, Wood River.
    Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday by the Rev. Todd Taylor, pastor of First Bapt ist Church, Alton.
    Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
