    of, Groton, Connecticut, who became major in Revolutionary army, in McDougall's First New York Regiment; son of Youngs Ledyard.
    His first cousin, John Ledyard, was a well-known traveler, accompanied the celebrated Captain Cook on his last voyage, and wrote an account of the expedition. Co. William Ledyard who was killed at the taking of Fort Griswold in 1781 was Major Benjamin Ledyard's uncle.
