R.V. Welch, 87, of Highlands went to be with the Lord July 5, 2002 at his home. He was born June 5, 1915 in Crosby, TX to Robert and Elizabeth Welch.
R.V. worked at Exxon for 30 years in the Utility department before retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Highlands. R.V. loved to go to his place in Lake Livingston, where he loved to fish, deer and duck hunt. He especially liked to trot line fish. His other enjoyment was traveling with his wife Ina, they traveled to 30+ states and to Canada.
R.V. is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lee Etta Sanders, and Hortense Norris; brothers, Winfred Welch, Leonard Welch, and Anton Welch.
R.V. is survived by his loving wife of 61 years; Ina Welch of Highlands; sons, Reggie Welch and wife Mary of Bandera, TX, Joe Pat Welch and wife Lois of Highlands; grandson, Eric Welch of Bandera; granddaughter, Toni Kunz of New Braunsfels; grandson, Chad Owen of Mt. Pleasant, MI; sister, Earline Harman and husband J.D. of Highlands; brother, Robert Welch and wife Jean of Dickerson; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law; George and Teresa Munger of Wallisville; sister-in-law, Valda Carter of Highlands; brother-in-law, Eddie Munger of Spring; brother-in-law, Melvin Norris of Luling, LA, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. R.V. was a special man to everyone.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 8, 2002 at Sterling White Chapel in Highlands, with Rev. Jesse Harris officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2002 at Sterling White Chapel from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M.
Pallbearers will be: Leonard Earl Welch, Kenneth Welch, Mickey Welch, Ron Norris, Allen Welch, Dane Harlien. Arrangements are entrusted to Sterling White Chapel.
