Hello, Sherry,
Love your site, which was given me by Harold McGlathery, a distant cousin.
I'm intrigued by a coupla things, and perhaps I don't know how to navigate properly:
The first is the source material for Chesney being the progeny of Absalom Young.
We'd love to have that proven, and move on back!
The second is a series of letters you have written by Mary Jones. My question is, is this the same Mary Jones that was the daughter of Chesney, and whom the story of her travails is documented in the "History of Belton (Mo.)? That book says she went to Texas during the Civil War to stay at "The Barracks" with her husband, child and brother, James Hickman Young. Evidently she lost both her husband and child, and never showed in Cass Co. again.
Her brother then stayed for a year with the Cherokee before returning to Cass Co..
Regardless, having the source and proof of Chesney's ancestry will eliminate 15 years of frustration.
Very good work, and thank you,
Mark Young
