Sallie Matt Muckleroy Parmley was born 30 Jan 1891, the second of eight children, the second of six daughters of parents, Matt Scruggs Muckleroy and Fannie "Bibo" Burroughs Muckleroy. Her paternal grandfater was Capt. David Muckleroy and her maternal ggfather was Robert F. Millard. She was probably born in the "Burroughs House/Muckleroy Home" then located four miles north of Nacogdoches, TX, now located in Millards Crossing.

The Parmley family group also lived north of Nacogdoches as well and could have been neighbors of the Muckleroy's. On 12 Feb 1908, at age 17, Sallie married Giles Edward Parmley in Nacogcoches and they continued to live in Nacogdoches. There are no known children of this marriage.

The book "Nacogdoches County Families", pg 512, mentions the marriage of the two, but does not have any detail on Giles and Sallie.

Giles died 4 Dec 1952; Sallie died 14 Feb 1082, age 71: both are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, where Sallie's parents are buried.

Lelia Muckleroy, was born 25 Apr 1894, the third child of eight Muckleroy children, the third daughter of six girls. Her parents were Matt Scruggs Muckleroy and Fannie Burroughs Muckleroy. Her paternal grandfather was Capt. David Muckleroy. On the maternal side, she is a descendant of Robert F. Millard.

The Mattt Muckleroy family lived about 4 miles north of Nacogdoches in an old house that is known as "
The Burrows House" as the house and acreage was owned by the Burroughs. This house was moved to Millards Crossing by Lera Thomas and is part of the display of the rural homes of those years. I call it "The Muckleroy Home" as Matt and Fannie and their children lived there. My mother parked me there with Fannie "Bibo" Muckleroy the summers of 1941 and 1942.

Lelia married Issac Buchanan "Buck" PARMLEY 17 Aug 1913 at age 19. The Parmley's also lived north of Nacogdoches and they were probably neighbors. For some reason, there is no family information on Buck and Lelia in the book, "Nacogdoches County Families."

In the 1940's, Buck was the manager of the Stephen F. Austin dairy farm which was east of the football stadium. Just across, to the north from the football stadium was the house that Buck and Lelia lived in. Living with them was their niece, Jane Goodrich. daughter of Lelia's sister Fannie "Dolly" Muckleroy.

Lelia was famous in Nacogdoches for the home made canned chicken broth and soup that she cooked and canned and distributed to the local grocery stores. Lelia had a retriever dog that was allowed in the house who slept under the stove while she was cooking the chicken. Lelia loved that dog.

They had two children, Lee Clinton Parmley, 1915-2003; Mollie Tucker Parmley Gresham, 1917-2005. Both are also buried in Sunset Memorial with their parents, Buck and Lelia.
