Robert* Dolbair

Notes:

Robert Dolbair was probably born in Cadhayne, Devon, England about 1540. His parents are unknown at this time. On April 26, 1563, at St. Andrew's Church in Colyton, Devon, he married Agnes Sampson, who was born in Hawkchurch, Devon, England. They settled in Colyton, Devon and had at least nine children born there. Robert died in Colyton in January of 1614 and was buried in the churchyard of St. Andrew's Church there on the 25th of January.

Notes:

Rawkey Dolbair was born in Colyton, Devon, England about 1571. He was baptised at St. Andrew's there on August 17, 1571, the son of Robert Dolbair and Agnes Sampson. His unique first name could have been a variant of the French name Roch. On October 10, 1602, he married, at St. Andrew's in Colyton, Mary Mitchel or Mychell, who was probably from the hamlet called Rawkerayne. Mary and Rawkey had at least seven children baptised at St. Andrew's in Colyton. He was a yeoman in the Cadhayne part of Colyton. Rawkey died in November of 1671 and was buried in the churchyard of St. Andrew's Church in Colyton on the 12th of November.

Jonathan Gillett had left Dorchester by 20 June 1638 [DTR 35]. Anna, born December 1639, was the first of his children to be born in Windsor. Since the chronology for the births of his children is tight, the previous child, Mary, was probably born late in 1637 or early in 1638, and in Dorchester, so the date for the move from Dorchester to Windsor would be in the first half of 1638.

One of the earliest settlers of the village of Deerfield, Hampshire County, Massachusetts Bay Colony (Deerfield is now in Franklin County).

Joseph Gillette (Sr.) was a teamster killed at Bloody Brook. The teamsters were hauling grain to storage, under the protection of Captain Thomas Lothrop and his soldiers.

"Joseph Gillett was made freeman in [Windsor, Connecticut] 8 Oct. 1668 and is again so listed there 11 Oct. 1669. The births of his seven children are recorded there and the deaths of two. . . . While the Windsor birth records of all seven children suggest that the young family did not move to new-town Deerfield until the spring of 1675, Joseph was financially interested in the projective settlement by 1673."
