Mildred E. Worsham, 68, of 319 Williams, Bethalto, was pronounced dead at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday a t her home following a house fire.
The Alton native was the daughter of the late T. K. and Mary (Snider) Mathews, and married Ho ward Worsham on March 30,1929. He died Oct. 10,1956.
Surviving are three daughters, Elba Vanek of Downers Grove, Ill., Jacquelyn Traylor of Bright on and Sandra Johnson of East Alton; a son, Gary of Florissant, Mo.; nine grandchildren; an d two sisters, Velma Boardman of San Bernadino, Calif., and Beulah Zapp of Mascoutah.
A son, a brother, a sister, and a granddaughter preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Bethalto with th e Rev. Charles S. West officiating.
Burial will be in Upper Alton Cemetery and the church or the Bethalto Fire Department has bee n named as a memorial.

Mildred married Howard Worsham on 30 Mar 1929. Howard was born on 28 Aug 1901 in Kansas City, Kansas; died on 10 Oct 1956 in Alton Memorial Hospital, Alton, Madison Co, Illinois; was buried on 13 Oct 1956 in Upper Alton (Oakwood) Cemetery, Alton, Madison, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

She was a member of Hinsdale Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hi nsdale and Pioneer Seventh-day Adventist Church in Berrien Springs. She enjoyed flower garden ing, crocheting and knitting.Mrs. Vanek is survived by her husband, Paul; her daughter, Pegg y (George) Walker of Coloma; two grandchildren, Jessica (Jacob) Nunley and Nicholas Walker; h er sister, Jackie (Earl) Traylor of Alton, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.Elba was pre ceded in death by her first husband, Percy Hickerson; her daughter, Pamela Hickerson, in 1949 ; two brothers, Gary and Larry Worsham; and her sister, Sandra Harris.

Former Bethalto resident, Gary Worsham, 47, of Florissant, Mo., died at 5:20 a.m. Monday at F irman Desloge Hospital, following an extended illness.
He was manager of Household Finance in Maplewood, Mo
Born in Alton, a son of the late Howard and Mildred (Matthews) Worsham he married the forme r Donna Barth and she survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three sons, Michael of Missouri and Douglas and Jeffre y at home; and three sisters, Elba Vanek of Downers Grove, Jacquelyn Traylor of Brighton an d Sandra Schaefer of Hot Springs, Ark.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hutchens Mortuary in Florissant.
Visitation will continue at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Heights Baptist Temple in Creve Coeu r until services there at 2 p.m.
Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Jennings and the American Heart Association has b een named as a memorial.

Sandra J. Harris, 62, formerly of Bethalto, died at 4:46 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2003,
at Barnes- Jewish Hospital in St. Louis and was greeted at the gates of heaven.
Born March 8, 1940, in Alton, she was a daughter of Howard and Mildred (Mathews) Worsham. Sh e married Elwood "Woody" Harris Jr. on Oct. 14,1995, in Alton.
A homemaker, she will be missed and always remembered for her love of family, crafts, flowers , painting and shopping. The 1958 graduate of Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto was a me mber of the Beltline Christian Center in Alton.
In addition to her loving husband, surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly Fra nklin of St. Ann and Beth and Charlie Wilson of Lorton, Va.; two sons and a daughter-in-law , Brian K. and Deirdre Franklin of Fort Stewart, Ga., and Christopher Johnson of Indianapolis ; 10 grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jacquelyn and Earl Traylor of Brighton a nd Elba and Paul Vanek of Colomo, Mich.; a niece; four nephews; and her poodle, Ebony.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, . Jonathan Underhill; and two brothers , Gary and Larry Worsham.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Elias- Smith Funeral Homes and Crematory in Beth alto.
Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Beltlin e Christian Center. Services will be conducted by the Revs. Terry Watson and Davin Phillips.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.

Former Bethalto resident, Larry Worsham, 24, more recently of 7211 Southwest Avenue, Maplewoo d, Mo., died at 3:15 a.m., Sunday at Firmin Desloge Hospital, St. Louis.
The clerk at a dental supply company h a d been in failing health for several years.
He was born July 4, 1945 in Alton to the late Howard Worsham.
He attended the Bethalto schools and a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Maplewood.
He was united in marriage Jan. 21, 1967, in East Alton, to the former Joyce Brewer, who survi ves, in addition to his mother, Mrs. Mildred Worsham of Bethalto. He also leaves a brother, G ary C. Worsham of Florissant, Mo.; and three sisters, Mrs. Elba Vaneck of Downers Grove, Ill. , Mrs. Jacquelyn Traylor of
Wood River and Mrs. Sandra Johnson of Edwardsville.
Visitation at Smith Funeral Home, Bethalto, will be after 2 p.m. Tuesday until time of funera l services at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Committal will be in Valhalla Memorial Park.

Private Funeral Rites For Hickerson Infant
Private funeral services will be conducted Monday in Gent funeral home for Pamela Sue, infan t daughter of Mr. and MRs. Percy Hickerson of 3 Henderson place, who died Friday at 9:30 p.m . in Alton Memorial Hospital. The baby had been in ill health since birth, July 30, and had r emained a patient in the hospital.
