James Peeler
HARDIN-Funeral services for James Peeler, 67, a painter and life-long resident of Hardin, wil l be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church here. The Rev. Frank Cook o f Rock Fall and the Rev. Harry Frazier of Jerseyville will conduct the rites. Burial will b e in Hardin Cemetery. The body is at Hanks Funeral Home where friends may call.
Peeler, who was widely acquainted in Calhoun County, is survived by his widow, the former Mel issa Snider; a daughter, Mrs. Melissa Powell, Hardin, and two sons, Howard of California an d Raymond of Hardin.

James married Malissa Jane Snider about 1906. Malissa (daughter of William Warren Snider and Chloe Anna Swan) was born on 16 Oct 1891 in Calhoun, Illinois; died on 1 Apr 1968 in Jersey Community Hospital, Jerseyville, Jersey, Illinois; was buried on 4 Apr 1968 in Hardin Cem, Hardin, Calhoun Co, Illinois. Peeler
HARDIN - Visitation at the C. C. Hanks Funeral Home, Hardin, will begin after 2 p.m. Tuesda y for Raymond Warren Peeler, 58, of Hardin.
The district manager for the Modern Woodman. Life Insurance Co., died at 10 a.m. Sunday at th e Jersey Community Hospital.
A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Peeler, he was born May 27, 1910, in Hardin.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2:30
p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. John Ratcliff, officiating. Burial will be in the Hardin Cemete ry.
Survivors include his widow, the former Kathryn Mae Johnston; a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Akers o f Brighton; two sons, Ray E. and James of Hardin; nine grandchildren; a greatgrandchild; a br other, Howard of California; and a sister, Mrs. Melissa Powell of Fieldon.

Raymond married Kathryn Mae Johnston about 1935. Kathryn was born on 7 Apr 1915; died on 26 Jul 1995 in Alton, Madison Co, Illinois. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Malissa Powell
HARRISONSVILLE, MO.
Malissa Cloe Powell, 91, formerly of Hardin, died at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at
the Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville.
She was born Jan. 7,1913, in Hardin, the only daughter born to the late James Irvin and
Malissa Jane (Snider) Powell.
She married Vernice Powell, a lifelong farmer in the East Hardin area, Nov. 21, 1945. He die d Jan. 30,1982.
She was a graduate of Hardin High School, and was instrumental in the formation of the Pentec ostal Church there, where she served as the church pianist. She also assisted her father in t he office of the Modern Woodman as a secretary.
Surviving are a niece and several nephews, Audrey Decker of Jerseyville; James Peeler of Memp his, Tenn., Charles Edward, Amos and Terry Peeler, all of California; and many great-nieces a nd nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, preceding her in death were three brothers, Raymond and Howa rd Peeler, and Forrest Peeler in infancy; and a nephew, Ray Edward Peeler.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services at noon Wednesday at Crawford
Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Ed Boker will officiate.
Burial will be beside her husband at Hardin City Cemetery.

Peele r, 56, of 195 East D St., died Sunday in his home after a long illness.A native of Illinois , he was a Benicia resident for 20 years. Audrey Lee Decker, 76, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at the Sunset Point Rehabilitation Center in Clearwater. She was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Hardin, one of three children born to the late Raymond and Kathryn (Johnston) Peeler. She married James Arnold Akers Jr. on Nov. 2, 1953, in Winchester. He died Sept. 19, 1981. She later married Wayne Eugene Decker on Aug. 6, 1982, at the First United Methodist Church in Jerseyville. He died Nov. 20, 2003. She was born and raised in Hardin. She was valedictorian of her high school graduating class. Several years after the birth of her fourth child, she attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she earned a master's degree in English literature. She taught classes at the college level and worked as a social worker for both the states of Illinois and Missouri. Audrey was also an accomplished as well as published author. Surviving are her four children and their spouses, Dr. Linda and Dr. Lewis Fischer of Waterloo, Jayne Prophetter and her husband, Henry, of Clearwater, James A. Akers III of Cottage Hills, and Janet Kimberly Story of Clearwater; her grandchildren, Tamara, Donovan, and Alexander Fischer, Kathryn and Gabriel Pizzo, Brandy, Jami, Jasmine, Justina, and Jalena Akers, Jarad and Jamie Story; her great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Damian, Aubrey, Autumn, Gage, Talyn, and Jaedrien; and a brother, Raymond Peeler. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Peeler. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
