HARDIN - Vernice C. Powell. 75, died at 3:50 p.m. Saturday at Jersey Community Hospital, Jers eyvillc.
Born in Fieldon. the son of the late John and Mary (Cope) Powell, he was married to the forme r Malissa Peeler.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three sisters. Maurieta Watson, Delta Rush and Bonit a Powell, all of Jerseyville.
Visitation will be after 4:30 p.m. today at Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin, where funeral servi ces will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with the Revs. George Johnson and Frank Cook, offi ciating.
Burial will be in Hardin Cemetery and memorials may be made to Calhoun ambulance fund and th e American Cancer Society.

Vernice married Malissa Cloe Peeler on 21 Nov 1945. Malissa (daughter of James Irving Peeler and Malissa Jane Snider) was born on 7 Jan 1913 in Hardin, Calhoun Co, Illinois; died on 27 Feb 2004 in Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville, Cass, Missouri; was buried on 3 Mar 2004 in Hardin Cem, Hardin, Calhoun Co, Illinois.
