    Daughter of Dr. Joel Ponton and Rhoda Delaney James. Dr. Ponton was born 1802 in Lovingston, Amherst Co, Virginia, son of William Ponton and Isabell Moreland, and died 1 Feb 1875. He was buried on Koonce track near the Kent Place, Ezell, Texas. He was married to Rhoda, his second marriage, on 29 Mar 1839 in Jackson Co, Texas. Rhoda was b 16 Mar 1813 and died 5 Mar 1850 in Halletsville, Lavaca Co, Texas.
    Joel remarried Mary Henderson July 11 1850 in Lavaca Co. What happened to end that marriage is also not known. On 1 Oct 1871, Lavaca Co, Mabra officiated at the marriage of his then father-in-law Dr. Joel Ponton, and Harriet Koonce.

    Mrs. Wooton's Mother Dies in Palestine
    Mrs. M.M. Jones, mother of Mrs. J.R. Wooton of Fairfield died in Palestine Saturday (Aug 11, 1929) Burial was in the Palestine cemetery Sunday. Those attending the funeral from here were Mr & Mrs. J.R. Wooton and Mrs. Clyde Donaldson and by son (Wayne).
    Mrs. Jones is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Wooton, Mrs. Paul Buford of Palestine, Mrs. Charlie Mobley of West Texas, Mrs. Shaver of Palestine, Mrs. Alton Bynum of Grapeland, and two sons, John and Tom Jones of Palestine.

    Monday Afternoon
    Mrs. Nellie Wooton died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clyde Donaldon, Monday afternoon about 5:00 after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the Calvery Baptist Church, Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 with Rev. R.R. Anderson, Rev. . McKissack, and Rev. Ben Stohler officiating. Interment followed in the Fairfield cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Ernest Steward, Homer Lee, Randolph Lee, L.J. Davis, J.A. Hill, and J. G. Manahan.
    Mrs. Wooton was born in Lavaca Co, Jul 19, 1868. She had lived in Freestone Co about 55 years. Her husband was the late J.R. Wooton.
    Survivors include, besides Mrs. Donaldson, one other daughter, Mrs. James E. Moore of Kilgore; three sons, Hugh, Tom, and Delbert, all of Fairfield.; four sisters, Mrs. Alton Bynum of Spring, Mrs. Marion Shavers, and Mrs. Ike Shavers of Palese, and Mrs. Nannie Mobley of Richland Springs, also two grand children and two great grandchildren. (death date April 1, 1949)

    Tom J. Jones, age 67, dies Friday at 6:20 P.M. at his home on Rt. 1 in the Southview Community, after a lingering illness.
    Services will be held Sunday at 5: p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, with Rev. Foy Moser, pastor of the Fundamentalist Baptist church affiliates. Burial will be in the New Addition Cemetery.
    Surviving are three sons, Wordie, Boyd, and Webb Jones; five sisters, Mrs. Laura Shaver and Mrs. Anna Shaver of Palestine, Mrs. Alcie Bynum of Tomball, Mrs. Nellie Wooten of Fairfield, and Mrs. Nannie Mobley of Richland Springs.

    Lorene Fincher
    Services for Lorene Fincher, 92, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Dr. Betty Wilson and the Rev. Dean Easterly officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster, Palestine.
    Mrs. Fincher died Wednesday at Cartmell Home for the Aged.
    She was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Palestine to Marion and Anna Jones Shaver.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Fincher; sister, Doris West; and brothers, L. B. Shaver, Archie Shaver, Wesley Shaver, Jesse Shaver and Clarence Shaver.
    Mrs. Fincher is survived by daughter, Betty McCann of Palestine and Del Freida Wages of Elkhart; son, Pon Fincher of Elkhart; sister, Dora Ortega of Elkhart; six grandchildren and eight great-grand children.
    Pallbearers will be Chuck Nelson, Matt Phillips, Sam Blackmon, Randy Wages, Stan Wages and Mike Shaver. Honorary pallbearers will be Buck Fincher, Jack Fincher and H. C. Wilson.
    Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
