    Dr. Whitsitt records that Martha Whitsitt married William Carothers of Williamson County and had two sons, James Robert and William Whitsitt Carothers. "Of these, the elder married his cousin, Pallie Jordan, and they had two sons, William and Robert. The latter was killed by being thrown from a horse in the year 1897. James Robert Carothers is dead, and his widow, with her surviving son, William, is residing at the old James Whitsitt homestead, north of Mill Creek Church.

    William Whitsitt Carothers, the youngest brother of James Robert, married a Miss Turner, and they had ten children...He was murdered some years since by an unknown man, whom he permitted to ride with him at night in his wagon on Nolensville Pike."

    Description: Priscilla Menees Whitsett, daughter of Martha S Anthony Whitsett and James Menees Whitsett was b. in 1840 and died in 1922. Not sure if this is the same person you have noted or not. Martha S Anthony Whitsett married Robert Carothers sometime following the death of J.M. Whitsett in 1842. Martha died in Williams co, TN in 1873. Her daughter, Priscilla Menees Whitsett m. W.W. Thomas in 1865 and did, in her youth, inherit $500 from her Anthony grandparents. Her older brother, William Anthony Whitsett, was her guardian (even though she had a living mother) and I have copies of his financial records for her and her, also, minor brother, Henry, which note their inheritance from their Anthony grandparents. They also inherited from their Whitsett grandfather.

    My memory was wrong. It was the other minor siblings and another minor, I think cousin, who received an inheritance in 1852 from grandfather Anthony. It does show that Priscilla inherited $160 from grandmother Anthony in 1854. Priscilla must have inherited from her father and/or grandfather Rev James Whitsett because older brother, Wm Anthony, show that he owes her almost $1600 in late 1853 when she was only 13.

    Priscilla married Washington "Watt" Thomas (James Warren Vasser) in 1865 in Tennessee.
