Noel Rentfrow provided material aid and is listed as a Patriot.

The application referred to above indicates that Noel Rentfrow was the son of James Rentfrow. That is an error.

    ----
Dobbs Tax list (includes the area now in Southeast Wilson and all of Wayne) shows Noel as a poll tax in the home of William Ridgeon in 1769. The "age out" of Noel's poll taxation in Johnston in conjunction with this point to Noel being a posthumous son of John Renfrow, born late 1748 to his new widow Tomasin, who later married William Ridgeon and they all moved to the area of Southern Wilson County by 1764.

Noel was granted or purchased several tracts totaling 1000 acres in the Buckhorn area (NC 581-NC 42) of Wilson County (Johnston at the time), the first of these is 350 acres in 1779.

There is record of N. Rentfro's Revolutionary War service from 1781.

The names of Noel's children come from his will, their (at least the sons) ages from poll information Johnston County Tax.

    post-em:

This is the 'R" section of the 1769 Dobbs County NC tax list showing "Noal" (ie, "Noel") Renfrow in the home of William Ridgen (the step father of Tomasin's Renfrow children). This means he was 16 or older (law for 1769) but not out on his own yet, perfectly jiving with a 1748 or 1749 birth for Noel only months (less than 9) after his father (John) wrote his will, a birth would be expected since William and James were toddlers at most at time of the will, meaning Tomasin was still having children
