  1. 1.  Johann Gasper Vogt, Sr was born in 1725 in Frankfurt, Germany; died after 1787 in Botetourt Co, Virginia.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Immigration: "Charming Betty" from London, England
    • Emigration: 11 Oct 1733

    Notes:

See: Beyond Germanna, Vol 2, No. 4, for part 3 of an article on John Paul Vogt by Helen Spurlin. That source indicates that Gasper lived near North River as did his father, John Paul. Gasper sold his land in the 1770s and in 1780 moved to a German community in Botetourt Co, VA on the headwaters of the James River. Specifically in 1778 and 1780 he sold his land in Rockingham Co (see pges 17 and 57 of Rockingham Co, VA Minute Book, 1778-1786, Part 1, 1778-1786, by Constance A. Levinson and Louise C. Levinson, p.p. 1985.
He was 8 years of age when he arrived in 1733.
Page 126 of Seed-Bed of the Republic: Early Botetourt, by Robert Douthat Stoner, p.p., 1962, indicates that he served in Botetourt during the American Revolution.
Gasper's name last appears on the tax lists of Botetourt Co in 1787. A Casper Faught died by May 1753 in Augusta Co and left orphans, Conrad and Jacob Cood, but he is not Casper/Gasper, the son of John Paul Vogt. His descendants spell the sure Faught.

Johann married Elizabeth Wilkiss about 1750 in Augusta, Virginia. Elizabeth was born about 1725; died after 1752. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
