CLINTON - James Earl Holt, 84, of Clinton died at 9:49 p.m. Sunday (July 27, 2003) at Crestview Nursing Center, Clinton.
Mr. Holt was born Nov. 10, 1918, in DeWitt County, a son of James Sherman and Myrtle "Mertie" Ellen Shelton Holt. He married Mary Frances Huffman on Dec. 9, 1954, in Clinton. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, David Earl Holt of Clinton; a daughter, Leilani Kathleen Maxwell of Clinton; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Mr. Holt served as an aerial engineer in the Army Air Forces during World War II as part of the 5th Army Air Force serving the 4th Depot Group and was stationed in Australia and the Philippines. He was a retired farmer and retired owner of Holt Produce. He was a 50-year member of DeWitt Masonic Lodge 84 AF&AM and a member of Crang-Bennett American Legion Post 103, Hall-Evey VFW and DeWitt County Farm Bureau.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or an organization of the donor's choice.
Services will be Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. J. Kent Hickerson will officiate. Burial will be in Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton.
Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home.
