Mentioned in a letter fro Charles Hankamer to his sister Wilhelmina Wilborn, dated Dec 1, 1862, Grigsbys Bluff - referring to his letter "I don't know yet who I will send mine by, but sheltons little boy is here. He will go back in a few ds I reckon and can send by him if no chance sooner." Winfred was 12 and could have possibly handled the trip to Sabine Pass to see his father.
