Well, we know that she died after her last child was born 1834 and before the 1839 tax list of Platte Co. MO.

My guess is that the family moved from Meade to Scott IL after her death, then to Platte and then back to Scott.

If she died at Scott Co. IL, there is no marker, yet everyone else who died there has a headstone.

Really doubt that she got as far as Platte and there are poor records at Meade. So just my guess, but that's where I think she's buried.

Which mean that she probably died between 1834 and 1837? Or was that 1836 when they went to Scott for the first time?

Father and Seven Children Meet in Waco After a Separation of 35 Years

The Convention of the Christian Church in this city last week furnished the occasion for a family reunion which was enjoyed with intense delight by the participants.
Mabra Madden Jones, who lives near Palestine, Texas met seven of his children in this city and the father, brothers, and sisters spent the week together. It was the first time they had all been together since 1866, thirty-five years ago. Atat time the youngest was only six years old and the oldest was twenty-five. All had seen each other since that time but at different times and places.
The elder Jones is eighty-one years old and his children, seven in number, all live in Texas, but in different parts are as follows:

Mabra Madden Jones, father of the five sons and two daughters named above, was born in Kentucky, in 1820. He moved to Missouri and in 1840 was married to Miss Sarah Lovelady, daughter of Elder James Lovelady. In 1844 he removed to Texas staying in Cass Co. until 1847, when he proceeded to Victoria, only a few months after the Indians made their last famous raid to the coast country and burned Linnville, five miles south of Victoria. He soon accumulated some capital at the blacksmith business and invested in cattle, establishing a ranch in Goliad Co. His first wife, Sarah, the mother of these seven children, died in DeWitt Co. in 1860 and in 1863 he married Miss Martha Ponton in Lavaca Co. Nine children blessed this union, seven of whom are still living.
At the close of the war between the States, the children of the first marriage separated and while they all remained in Texas; some of them are now living four hundred miles apart. They have occasionally visited each other, and all have visited their father; though this is the first reunion of the family. The father and the eldest son had not seen one another in twenty-four years. George, Cyrus and Henry had not seen one another in twenty-six years. All the others had not met in the last ten years.
The week had been passed in one continual and unbroken round of pleasure in which grand children and great grand children participated.
The father and seven children were photographed in a group and another interesting group was made with the Elder M.M. Jones, his daughter, Mrs. S.M. Linthicum, her daughter, Mrs. Runie M. Moore, and Mrs. Moore's daughter, Miss Ollie representing four generations.
The reunion will adjourn today, but the family recorded a pledge that if possible it shall be repeated every year in the future.

A reunion of the Jones family,or a part of that big family is in progress this week in Waco. Nineteen members of the family from other parts of the state are here and are the guest of Stephen L. Jones, and his sisters; Mrs. Mary M. Moore and Sue M. Linthicum and their families.
The visitors are Henry M. Jones and wife, their two daughters and grand daughter, also their son L.M. Jones, wife and baby. J.W. Jones, brother to Stephen L. Jones. Henry M. Jones from Palestine.
Mrs. Reb Wooten, son and daughter from Fairfield, Tx. Mrs. Wooten is sister of the three Waco Jones.
Andrew P. Jones another brother from Beaumont.
Cyrus Y. Jones of Beaumont who was unable to attend on account of illness of his wife, is represented by his grand daughters; Misses Madge and Blanche Spinks and their friend, Mrs. Leah Stewart.
Mrs. F.F. Jones of Stephenville, widow of George W. Jones, the eldest of the brothers and their son J.B. Jones and wife of Valley Mills, were in attendance.
The reunion began Sunday and will end next Sunday. Most of the time is spent at the residence of Stephen L. Jones, 701 So. 17th St., occupied by himself and his two nieces, Mrs. J.J. Harris and Mrs. Runie Moore. Monday afternoon the entirch went to the top of the Amicable building and had a view of the city and surrounding country. Wednesday all were guest of Mrs. H.J. Stricker, daughter of Mrs. M.M. Moore, and thursday they enjoyed a visit to Cameron park. Friday they are taking in the 4th of July celebration at Cotton Palace Park.
These family reunions are held every year, alternating between Waco, Palestine, and Beaumont. Next year it will be at Beaumont. The first one was held in Waco in 1901.

After the war was living near Schulenburg in Lavaca County. From there, in connection with the Bosworth family, we find him living up in Central Texas, Red Rock, Pettytown, maybe San Saba, and finally Stephenville.

Letter with no year, written by Frances in May from Red Rock states that "Pap" (James Lovelady) "started down to Lavaca about two or three weeks ago. He went by Mary's. I expect he will stay there some time." Must be written after Nancy died.

Lyons is in Burleson County, but this only indicates there were at a meeting there.

George is not found in 1870 census, nor is James Lovelady, and apparently the family does not know where they are.

Notes:

A letter from Mary (apparently written around 1863-1864) goes thus: "We are all about to leave this country. Pap (James) and Grandma talk of going to the mountains. They have sold their cattle." There seems to have been a terrible drought that caused many people to leave that area.
Added in a postscript at the beginning of the letter is, "I have got the sweetest little brother. He can sit alone. He is as fat as a pig." That must have been Henry at several months old.
Apparently she had been married previously to a Mr. Norton. They had moved to Oak Hill near LaGrange, Texas. After several years, they moved to North Texas, then moved back. Mary was living in Burleson Co about 1914. According to the n item, Mary had married a Moore and Sue had married a Linthicum.
Mary never had any children (by choice), and I am of the opinion that the friction between her and Mabry was because she married and did not continue to take care of his "four little motherless boys" as she put it (which would have been Cyrus abt 11, Stephen abt 9, Andrew abt 6, Henry abt 1).
Anyway, she tried to get one of the boys, as George and Sue did. In another letter, she complains that Mabry had given George and Susan a brother to keep, but had refused to give her one.
Mabry farmed the boys out at times, some of them to my great-grandmother Susan. But the 1870 Census reveals that Stephen and Andrew were living with Mabry and Martha then, as well as daughter Nancy and Nellie (b 1864 & 1868) and the 1880 lis a son Joel A, born November 28, 1874.

Stephen's letter of Jan 19 1916 mentions "Mary, Sue and myself reside here" - Waco, McLellan Co.

After Mary was widowed and in her senior years, she lived with her daughter Runie and family, the Strickers. Granddaughter Mary "Nona" Stricker wrote a journal entitled "Texas Girlhood" and wrote of her grandmother,

"Grandmohter was a wonder despite several disabling physical afflictions with which she lived for many years. One of these ailments directly influenced the expansive rotundity of her unrestrained middle - all stomach to our anatomically untutored minds. She found irrepressible joy in living, and laughed long and often with such gusto that her "stomach" shook without solemnity, much to our delight. Though sevent-five and mostly sedentary, Grand had the appetite of an adolescent boy. How she enjoyed food! And why not? She still had all her own teeth, and a handsome set they were although no dentist had ever had a closeup of them.

"Grandma's chief source of joy was her family of brothers and a sister. When we were very young we used to wonder why she and great aunt and Susie always cried when they met after being separated for even a short (page 37) while. Grandma and these brothers and this sister she had mothered formed in their later yers the nucleus of the Jones family reunion. How they adored each other and reveled in being together - Mary (Grandma),Stephen, Cyrus, Andrew, Henry, and Susie. The several half-brothers and sisters were also welcomed, as were, of course all the children, grandchildren, and in-laws. They loved to sing and enjoy most of the songs of the Sacred Harp. First, the notes of the traditional Do-Re-Mi and Fa-sol-la tunes were named and sung. Then the words.

"Our five room house was headquarters for one year's retunion. Of course we couldn't sleep them all, but though parcelled out to other relatives at night, the whole crowd ate, sand and enjoyed each other at our house during the days of the customary week. When Grandma died at seventy-seven, the joyous circle was broken, and it seemed to be understood there would be no more Jones family reunions."

She married Ulysses Rabb in Colorado in 1855. "One midnight in 1921, I was startled awake by cries of discress. I called Mama and Papa and we rushed to Grandma's room. But she was already only partially conscious. After seventy-seven years, her merry heart had just stopped beating. She couldn't have known for long that the time for her departure had come. And that was well. she loved life but not for the material blessings it had bestrowed on her. The only tangible legacy she left us was, rather appropriately, a piano. She had made what seemed at the time an even trade when she deeded Uncle Henry a lot in south Houston for the charred remains of a piano, the interior of which he had rehabilitated. Papa remade and refinished the exterior. It was something of a disappointment to the eye, but its tone made one forget that."

After Sarah died, Mabra let Susan "have" Andrew. Evidently she was instrumental in his rearing. If Sarah's death year is indeed 1863, Andrew was 5 years old and Susan was 17.
It is known through a letter written by Mary to her aunt Susan that she had a baby who was a couple of months old and only 7 pounds.

In Andrew's obit, she was listed as a surviving sister living in Waco as Mrs. J.D. Linthicum.

Note in Leonard's letter: "Susan Mariah must have married to A Wiggins and was still living at Middletown or Weesatche. Susan later lived at Hoss Bluff in Liberty Co and urged George to come out there as that area needed a doctor and singing school teacher. But that was in 1872, after the war."

Stephen's niece, Mary Ann "Nona" Stricker, daughter of Runie Moore Stricker, and granddaughter of Stephen's sister, Mary Jones Norton Moore, wrote a journal of her young life and called it "Texas Girlhood." Within that journal she wrote of Stephen: (pg 12)
"When I was five death brought us to the right side of the river to live. Fragile Aunt Allie (Stephen's wife) had crossed the long visible bar, and Mama's Uncle Stephen and counsin M.C. (Mabra Chesnut) needed someone to keep house for them. So, we moved to Bell's Hill. Uncle Stephen's house was huge -- five rooms and a hall, and latticed back porrch, which served as a bedroom by night and dining rom by day. There was running cold water but no bathroom. There was a large sistern in which, after washed the roof, the rain water was caught and hoarded and from which it was sparingly dawn to provide drinking water, rain water and rice pudding being Uncle Stephen's favorite table delicacies.
"Uncle Stephen was gentle, dignified, and we all loved him. He worked on the editorial staff of the daily newspaper, and that was a mysterious and fascinating occupation. To me he was personification of affluence, both mentally and materially. Soon after we descended upon his quiet establishment he became our banker-broker. He set aside a pocket in his coat for each of the three of us children and staked us to a nickel apiece, which was to rustle for us during the day. Each night as he came up the walk, three eager investors run to meet him and to feel in their respective pockets to see if their nickels had rustled any that day. Sometimes they had and sometimes they hadn't." pages 12 and 13

"After her death in 1921 and until his own in 1923, Uncle Stephen took Grandma's chair at our table. Rice pudding was still served extra often, but the intervening years had destroyed his indifference to the hazards inherent in unpurified rainwater. His vacant chair and bed were taken by paternal Grandma." Thus we were six as far back as I can remember."

Obituary.
Stephen L. Jones of the Times-Herald news staff died suddenly at 1:20 Wednesday afternoon following an illness of about two weeks. He died at the home of his niece, Mrs. H. J. Stricker, 1620 N. 15th Street with whom he resided. Mr. Jones was taken sick a week ago last Saturday, but it was not thought that his condition was serious. He came down town Thursday of last week, but found that he was not able to remain out. Yesterday morning, he seemed better, but soon after he had eaten his noonday meal, he fell back on the bed and died before a physician could reach him.
He was known as Steve Jones to many here and had been in the county about 50 years. He was engaged in agriculture a short time, but began newspaper work in Waco showing remarkable aptitude and a great liking for the business. He was editor of the old Waco Day and also was on the reportorial staff of the Waco Evening News. He was one of the owners of the Waco Morning Times which later merged with the Waco Morning Herald, now known as the Waco Times Herald. He had been with the Times-Herald 25 years and was editor one time. He had been day correspondent of the Associated Press several years and was thus representing them at the time of his death.
He was peculiarly fond of newspaper work, and was painstaking conscientious and able. He took great interest in politics and made this a matter of much study. He was always a staunch democrat. He was always loyal to Waco and gave freely of his time and means to promote the interests of this city. Mr. Jones was a member of the Central Christian Church and was known as one of the most active and earnest members of that congregation. His was a peculiarly frank, unaffected, sincere nature and to know him was to feel instinctive confidence in him.
He is survived by his son, M. C. Jones of Indianapolis, Ind, formerly of Waco, three brothers and one sister, Henry Jones, Houston, Cyrus and Andrew Jones, Beaumont, and Mrs. J. D. Linthicum, Waco, his niece, Mrs. H. J. Stricker of Waco, heretofore mentioned. Funeral arrangements will be definitely completed when the son, M. C. Jones of Indianapolis names the hour.

Andrew Prather JONES and Amanda Petronile SHERMAN, married in Wallisville in 1882. Amanda was born there in 1863, dau of Lothrop Blockman SHERMAN and Mary KIRK. Lothrop was the son of Jacob Haven SHERMAN & Rebecca STEBBINS. Rebecca also lived in Wallisville. I have no information on Mary KIRK other than she was born in 1835 in Tennessee and had previously been married to a Mr. Ellis, and is buried in Eminance Cemetery. Andrew JONES moved into Chambers Co from DeWitt Co. aft 1870.

Funeral services for Andrew P. Jones, 72, who died at his home, 544 Washington Boulevard, at 8 p.m. Sunday, will be conducted at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Broussard Mortuary. Rev. J. H. Pace, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will ciate, and burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

Dear Brother Stephens,
Today at five p.m. Brother Henry Jones passed away and his body will be in your church Sunday afternoon for the funeral services. I can not refrain from writing you this line. He was a member of the church there for years. When I was pastor his devotion to the church was beautiful indeed. I have known him to come to prayer meeting with his work clothes in a grip and change in the back room and rush off before the services was over. If he could not get all of the service he got what he could.
He had a good voice and sang in the choir when not out on his run. He had a splendid ability in looking after the organ. I have known him to come direct from the engine when his run was over and put in hours on the organ before he even went home.
He was a man of intelligence and he loved the word of God. In his last illness and in fact for several years he could not hold a book but had a frame made that would hold his book for him, and he read the Bible over and over again. He read in other books that pertained to the Bible, this was especially true of Josephus. He was a man of prayer and exercised most marvelous patience. Though he had been very active man and was now tied down he did not murmur. He loved the church and its services and missed them very greatly. He loved his brethren and missed them very keenly as he could not stand to be in any kind of a crowd or to be in the company of strangers.

Monday Afternoon
Mrs. Nellie Wooton died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clyde Donaldon, Monday afternoon about 5:00 after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the Calvery Baptist Church, Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 with Rev. R.R. Anderson, Rev. . McKissack, and Rev. Ben Stohler officiating. Interment followed in the Fairfield cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ernest Steward, Homer Lee, Randolph Lee, L.J. Davis, J.A. Hill, and J. G. Manahan.
Mrs. Wooton was born in Lavaca Co, Jul 19, 1868. She had lived in Freestone Co about 55 years. Her husband was the late J.R. Wooton.
Survivors include, besides Mrs. Donaldson, one other daughter, Mrs. James E. Moore of Kilgore; three sons, Hugh, Tom, and Delbert, all of Fairfield.; four sisters, Mrs. Alton Bynum of Spring, Mrs. Marion Shavers, and Mrs. Ike Shavers of Palese, and Mrs. Nannie Mobley of Richland Springs, also two grand children and two great grandchildren. (death date April 1, 1949)

Tom J. Jones, age 67, dies Friday at 6:20 P.M. at his home on Rt. 1 in the Southview Community, after a lingering illness.
Services will be held Sunday at 5: p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, with Rev. Foy Moser, pastor of the Fundamentalist Baptist church affiliates. Burial will be in the New Addition Cemetery.
Surviving are three sons, Wordie, Boyd, and Webb Jones; five sisters, Mrs. Laura Shaver and Mrs. Anna Shaver of Palestine, Mrs. Alcie Bynum of Tomball, Mrs. Nellie Wooten of Fairfield, and Mrs. Nannie Mobley of Richland Springs.
