I've pretty much given up on these message boards - too much unreliable data being presented as 'gospel' - but just thought I'd make clear that (Capt) James Wilson Doak was the son of John Doak and a Mary who is said to have been a Wilson: there's simply no evidence I'm aware of as to her parentage.
Also, it's only an hypothesis that John's father was Robert - personally, I think Robert's son would have been too old to have been the John Doak (my gtgtgtgtgdfather) who made no less than 3 new pioneer starts between about 1740 & 1760.

James Doak, son of John, of Alamance Church, bought of Rebecca, James and Jean Boyd a farm on Reedy Fork and located there in 1799. He had married Mary, daughter of William Paisley, Sr., in 1775. Their children were Eleanor, Mary, John, Jean, Martha, William P., Robert and James W. Eleanor married Thomas Blair, Jr., 1800; Mary married Alexander Whem. All of these with the exception of James W. went to Tennessee to lands willed them by their father. James Doak, Sr., died in 1806.

Revolutionary war land grant in Rutherford County, Tenn., near Murfreesboro where some of his sons relocated.

He and his wife Polly had eight children and moved down the Shannandoah Valley to Guilford County, N.C. by 1775.

Will:
We also have a will for this James Doak, recorded in Greensboro, Guilford County, NC, dated 8 Dec 1805 (File #0108, recorded in Will Book A, at Page 108) and proven at the February, 1806 term of Court.

As noted from the original document by Robert Edward Oakley
the will refers to "all my beloved children" before listing John, Jean, Martha, William P., Robert, and James W. The will leaves to his children, ?my land in Tennessee on west bank of Stones River? and stipulates that his wife Mary is to have first choice of land.

James Wilson Doak is listed by DAR as having received a land grant for service of 1569 acres on the West Fork of Stone River, Rutherford Co, TN
The apparent omission of Eleanor and Mary from their father's will is possibly due to the fact that they were both already married ? their dowries may have been their due portions of their father's estate. There are records of both these marriages.

I'm looking for info on Sarah (Sallie) Doak and her father William Paisley Doak. Sarah is the daughter of a Choctaw woman, (name unknown.) She died in 1880 in Grandbury, TX

I believe if you check carefully into documented records, you will find that William Paisley Doak died intestate and without issue, prior to ever taking possession of his share of his father's Revolutionary War grant in Rutherford County, Tennessee. His one-eighth (1/8) share was divided among his seven siblings, as was his share of other lands inherited from hs father in Wilson County, Tennessee. If my research is correct, and William Paisley Doak died intestate, and without issue, that also means he was NOT the William Doak who established Doak's Stand in what is now Madison County (and was originally in Yazoo County) in Mississippi around 1810-1812. I believe if you research the extant primary historical records regarding Doak's Stand, the Treaty of Doak's Stand, etc., etc., you will find references only to "William Doak" and "Wm. Doak," and NEVER a reference to a "Willam Paisley Doak" or a "William P. Doak." I presume you also know that Josiah Doak (also referred to as Jo Doak, and Josiah S. Doak), who was at Doak's Stand with William Doak, and who later was instrumental in the establishment of Doaksville in the Indian Territory in what is now Oklahoma, is commonly referred to--and assumed to have been--the brother of the William Doak at Doak's Stand. If that is the case--and I am convinced that it is--then that is further evidence that William Paisley Doak was not the owner/operator of Doak's Stand, since William Paisley Doak did not have a brother named Josiah. However, Josiah's parents, William and Anne Stuart(?) Doak DID have a son named William (but I've never seen a middle initial or name used for him). Finally, while there is much discussion about William Doak at Doak's Stand having a child named Sally (Sallie) by an Indian woman, I have never seen any documentary evidence supporting such a contention. The William Doak who operated Doak's Stand, and whose first wife Polly McMurry died in Madison County, Mississippi, about 1824, apparently remarried a woman named Sarah Carson. That William Doak died in 1833 in what was then Washington County, Mississippi. A few months later Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, was created, and the administration of William Doak's estate was transferred to that county, where his residence and real property physically were located. Nowhere in the estate proceedings is there ANY mention of a daughter named Sally (Sallie) or who may have been of Indian heritage--which of course doesn't prove that there was not one. But if there was a Sally (Sallie) Doak who had known Indian ancestry through her mother (an Indian princess, I believe the oral tradition suggests?), it is likely that you will have to trace the lineage BACKWARD through Sally (Sallie) to her mother if you are to find documentary evidence to prove your research. Hope this information is helpful.

John D. Aydelott, a successful farmer of Oil Trough, is the son of A. P. Aydelott and Martha J. Aydelott, who were the parents of twelve children, John D. being the fourth child. Five lived to be grown: M. J., J. D., A. W., S. E. and A. P. Aydelott, Jr., who is also a successful farmer in Oil Trough. A. P. Aydelott, Sr., was one of the oldest settlers of Oil Trough Bottom, coming to Oil Trough in 1844, bringing the first stock of goods that was sold in Oil Trough. He bought 240 acres of land from Joe Egner, and cleared 200, and farmed and made stock raising a success. At the beginning of the Civil War Mr. A. P. Aydelott was opposed to the States seceding, but after they did he cast his lot with the Confederacy. In politics before the war he was a Whig, but afterward a Democrat. A. P. Aydelott came to Arkansas from Tennessee in 1836, first settling in Little Rock, afterward Elizabeth, thence to Oil Trough, where he and his wife (whom he married in 1844), Martha J. Birdsong, also of Tennessee, lived happily together until death claimed the father and [p.635] husband, October 16, 1880. His widow and the mother of our subject, followed August 26, 1884. They were buried in the family graveyard on the farm. They were both members of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The five children living are all doing well. One girl, S. E., is an invalid, and lives with the youngest brother.
